Comment: This draft currently lacks sufficient depth and a broad enough range of independent, high-quality secondary sources to establish stand-alone notability. Please expand the History and Impact sections using more in-depth coverage from national media or scientific publications to move it beyond a directory-style listing. Rewilding Coombeshead is a 400 acre farm in Lifton, Devon owned by author and species reintroduction expert, Derek Gow..[1][2]
The site is home to breeding facilities for native flora and fauna, visitor accommodation and a working farm[3]. Much of the land is under the process of rewilding, similar to the Knepp Estate.
The species recovery centre is home to many species of birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and insects. This includes Eurasian Lynx, Wild Boar, Eurasian Beavers, European Wildcats, White Storks, Black Storks, Water Voles, Harvest Mice, Common Tree Frogs, Black Grouse, Twites and Red-backed Shrike [4][5]. The species recovery centre supports the reintroduction of multiple species, both locally within the farm, and nationally at other rewilding sites. This includes the release of 150 European Turtle Doves on the farm, numerous White Storks at two release sites in Devon; and several large-scale water vole reintroductions nationally [5][6][7]. The species recovery centre is also supported by external sites, such as OC Aviary and Cannwood, to host such species [5][8]
