The Ladybug Music Festival is a music festival that was first held on July 19th, 2012, in Wilmington, Delaware. Originally produced by Gayle Dillman and Jeremy Hebbel of Gable Music Ventures, The LadyBug Music Festival is the largest free, women-led music festival in the United States. Originally founded as a grassroots block party hosted in downtown Wilmington, it has begun expanding into additional locations across Delaware and Maryland. One notable location is Milford, Delaware, which launched in 2018. A standard LadyBug Music Festival hosts 4,000-6,000 attendees and activates multiple indoor and outdoor stages in partnership with local businesses, nonprofits, and food vendors.[1]
According to co-creator Gayle Dillman, “Ladybug has always been about giving women a stage and a spotlight they deserve.” Dillman sees the main mission of the festival as bringing women to the forefront of festival lineups, creating meaningful opportunities for local and independent artists, supporting the local creative economy, and keeping the event free and accessible for the community.[2][3]
On October 1st, 2025, co-founder Gayle Dillman announced her retirement, signaling an end to the 13-year run of the festival. However, on December 12th, 2025, it was announced that the festival had been sold to I.D.E.A. (Igniting Delaware Edutainment Association), a nonprofit organization dedicated to blending education, entertainment, and community engagement. As of March 2026, The Ladybug Music Festival has been owned and operated by I.D.E.A., with the next event scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026.[4][5]
