The Trade Union Confederation "Anarcho-Syndicalist Initiative", also known as The Anarcho-Syndicalist Initiative (Serbian: Анархосиндикалистичка иницијатива, also known as ASI) is an anarcho-syndicalist organization that originated in Serbia.
Events
editHistory
editThe organization was founded on October 19, 2002 in Vranje, Serbia. On May 1, 2002, the members of the group distributed the first issue of the organization to the workers at the May Day demonstrations in 2002 in Belgrade that was organized by yellow unions.[1][citation needed]

Ratibor Trivunac and Related Events
editThe group's identity constantly revolves around Ratibor Trivunac, since he is one of the founders of ASI.
- On September 4, 2009, six activists, Sanja Dojkić, Tadej Kurepa, Ratibor Trivunac, Ivan Vulović, Nikola Mitrović and Ivana Savić, who were in association with the organization and the IWA, were detained and arrested by police with the charges of initially "causing general public danger", however then raised to "international terrorism" for vandalism and for causing a molotov cocktail to break a window at the Greek Embassy in Belgrade, even though the attack has been claimed by an anarchist group by the name of Crni Ilja, as a response to the treatment of the rebels by the Greek state.[2] [3]
Ideology
editThe general goals of the ASI are clear to be unionist, however, unlike the company unions, they maintain the anarchist structures of no leaders or positions of power.[4] The organization strives to fight capitalism in order to gain freedom and equality for all, and to create a self-governing, communist workers' democracy that is achieved by revolutionary means.[5]
