30000 Island Air was a small rental and charter airline that existed from 1996 in the Parry Sound area..[1]

Incidents

edit
  • In 2002, it reportedly flew a Cessna 180 without clearance from an approved air maintenance organization and painted it their colours and was fined 500 dollars.[2]
  • Another incident occurred in 2001, where an overhauled engine was added to DHC 2 C-GBZH which was said to be ready before pressure levels reduced to the red line. After both incidents it's unclear what exactly happened to it.
  • On April 26, 2002, their Cessna 180 was forced to land in a marsh, substantially damaging the aircraft. All occupants survived.[3]

Aftermath

edit

In 2002 again its AOC (air operator's certificate) was suspended. This means that in the span of 2 years 30000 Island Air did multiple aviation offenses. It's founder was Tom Blackwell, who set up the airline in 1996[4] though it's routes can be traced back to 1993.
