Jr vs III
editIf Tadd's father was James Roosevelt Jr., and Tadd's paternal grandfather is James Roosevelt Sr., then shouldn't that make Tadd's name be "James Roosevelt III"? I'm puzzled..... and "James Roosevelt Roosevelt, Jr." just doesn't sound right..... Thesomeone987 (talk) 03:09, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Thesomeone987
- Again, same answer I gave you on Talk:Theodore Roosevelt - go do some research, you're not going to be allowed to change the article to reflect your assumptions about what the subjects name "should" have been, in your opinion. Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:35, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
"Prostitute"?
editYour article referred to Sadie Messenger Roosevelt as a prostitute. Several secondary sources and web pages do the same. William Mann disputes that characterization in his book, The Wars of the Roosevelts. The label is what one would expect from the scandal-seeking media of the day, but it seems too definitive and pejorative a classification of Sadie's life. Just what was going on in Manhattan dance halls over a century ago is murky and impossible to untangle at this point. Maybe it's better to err on the side of caution and not recycle the gossip and scandal stories of the day as proven matters of fact.
Father's nickname Rosy or Rosey?
editThis article uses Rosey throughout but his father's (James Roosevelt Roosevelt) only Rosy. Internet searches show results with both: https://americanaristocracy.com/people/james-roosevelt-roosevelt Rosey or https://www.nps.gov/people/james-roosevelt.htm Rosy. Either seem to be usable sources. Any clear guidance here? JesseRafe (talk) 15:08, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
