Grandes Épreuves

edit

This list of races is taken from Hans Etzrodt's meticulously researched web site at kolumbus.fi. But note that he says: 'In 1946 three major GP races were added to this list with the sole objective to determine "My Driver of the year" ... but these were never officially nominated Grande Épreuve events.' May I propose that the Grandes Épreuves section is removed from Wikipedia and these three races are simply listed with the other major races of the season. Done (finally!). Thanks for pointing out the error. DH85868993 (talk) 09:15, 24 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
It has happened again. Somebody knowledgeable should probably look into this. Babij (talk) 17:10, 1 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've reverted the change and updated the other affected articles (1946 René le Bègue Cup, 1946 Nations Grand Prix, 1946 Turin Grand Prix, 1939 Swiss Grand Prix and 1947 Swiss Grand Prix). DH85868993 (talk) 18:03, 4 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Considering the concept of Grandes Épreuves doesn't seem to exist in an official capacity beyond the European Championship last held in 1939, I would suggest removing any reference to Grandes Épreuves after the war. 1946-1949 didn't have an official Grand Prix championship, all races designated a Grand Prix in a season, in my opinion, should be regarded as its own unofficial championship to allow for better chronology between race report articles, especially since this page lists the total Grand Prix wins anyway. Specifically, there should be some sort of change to Template:Grand Prix race report to allow for a chronology of races in a season without them being referred to as "Grandes Épreuves" (I'd put this in the talk page there but I'm afraid nobody would see it lol).
