a key contradiction
editso the 11th supposedly performed well in a war happening 1937-1945... despite being destroyed in 1933 (see page source). This uhh is interesting. Were there multiple divisions numbered 11? Should this page be moved to 18th Army (National Revolutionary Army), as done by the Chinese Wikipedia? Indeed, the 11th Division destroyed in the First Column of the Fourth Encirclement Campaign must be a different one than the 11th Division which was founded in 1928 during the Northern Expedition, fought in the Central Plains War (becoming the 18th Army), and later defended Dadan Island from the PLA in 1950.

- Oh just to add to the above, note that Von Seeckt's reorganization of Chinese divisions began in 1934 - one year after its supposed destruction. In 1937 it does mention another division - the 11th - as being reformed into a german-trained division. However during this time period the original division from the Northern Expedition (not the one destroyed in the 4th encirclement campaign) was being referred to as the 18th Army with the 11th as one subordinate unit of the Army. https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%9C%8B%E6%B0%91%E9%9D%A9%E5%91%BD%E8%BB%8D%E7%AC%AC%E5%8D%81%E5%85%AB%E8%BB%8D
- source: (see the german trained division page) - which to be fair is uncited which is bad. PottedPlanWP (talk) 14:00, 10 July 2025 (UTC)
