History

edit

Mistral Solutions started operations in 1997 as a value-added reseller for Wind River real-time operating systems and other COTS products in India. The company also offered design services through reference designs on the Analog Devices platform and worked on data acquisition and signal processing projects for various DRDO laboratories in the country.

In 2001, Mistral received Series A funding of US$3.5 million from eTec Ventures and established Mistral Software Inc. in the United States.[7] In 2004, Mistral entered into a strategic alliance with Curtiss-Wright Embedded Computing, today known as Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions. The company received a second round of funding in 2008, a Series B of US$6.5 million from Nexus Ventures Partners and JAFCO Asia.[4]

Over the following years, Mistral expanded its operations to global markets, building capabilities across two primary verticals: Aerospace and Defence, and Electronics, Semiconductor and AI (ESAI), serving clients across industrial, automotive, healthcare, and hyperscaler segments.

Mistral is recognised as an R&D centre by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and holds CEMILAC certification for the design, testing and validation of defence electronics.[8] The company holds certifications including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 27001:2013, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and EN9100:2018.

In January 2026, Mistral Solutions secured a ₹100 crore contract from India's LLTR Ashwini programme, an indigenous low-level transportable radar system developed by DRDO and BEL, to supply signal and data processing units for defence radar subsystems.[9]

In FY2025-26, Mistral opened the Devanahalli Aeroland facility near Kempegowda International Airport, a 165,000 sq ft aerospace and defence cluster. The facility brings together engineering workspaces, an SMT manufacturing line, system integration bays, test and validation infrastructure, a Cable Harness Lab, an Audio Performance Evaluation Lab, and an Experience Centre.[6]
