The MAYRLIFE Medical Health Resort Altaussee is a medical spa and health resort in Austria. It offers health programs for 4-14+ nights. The resort is located in the Austrian Alps and uses the MAYR health concept and diet originally developed by Dr. Franz Xaver Mayr around 1901. [1]
History
editMAYRLIFE was originally part of the VIVAMAYR brand and the resort in Altaussee operated under the name of the latter. Until 2023, when MAYRLIFE separated from VIVAMAYR [2] and started its own brand with a new name, logo and brand codes with the help from Yonder Consulting who were responsible for recreating MAYRLIFE's new image as shown in their 2025 case study. [3]
MAYR Method
editThe MAYR method and health concept is rooted in Dr. F.X. Mayr’s Mayr cure from the early 20th century. The Austrian physician stated that gut health is the key for a healthy life and that a balanced diet is the start of good health.[4]
The modern Mayr method is built on this idea and it offers a holistic health approach that combines a personalised diet with a personalised exercise plan. [5]
Resort
editThe original MAYRLIFE Medical Health Resort in Altaussee opened in 2015, then got rebranded in 2023. It is located by Lake Altaussee in Austria and offers health programs. The resort has an on-site medical team and health professionals and uses the Mayr diet for its residents.
Accommodation, spa facilities and indoor/outdoor exercise opportunities are available.
Construction and Design
editThe building was constructed by Hohensinn Architektur ZT GmbH [6] with the interior designs done by BWM [7]. The construction project started in November 2013 with a site area of 15,600 m2 by Lake Altaussee in Austria and was completed in 2015. The original name of the resort was Viva Salis and it was developed by Hannes Androsch. [8]
The design and architecture of the building is Modernist Chalet [9] using large windows and natural materials.
