Lonely (Croatian: Samoća) is a 2025 Croatian short drama film directed by Bobby B. Grubić and written by Miro Gavran and Grubić, based on Gavran's short story U zagrljaju rijeke (Embrace of the River). The world premiere took place on 10 May 2025 at the ÉCU – The European Independent Film Festival in Paris, in the European Dramatic Short competition.[1][2]

Plot

An elderly, seriously ill man, disappointed with his life, dreams of returning to the beloved river where he always felt happiest and of publishing a book of poems as his legacy. Left without family support, he finds hope in an unexpected friendship with his roommate.[3]

Production

Filming took place in Međimurje County, including County Hospital Čakovec, the city park and along the Mura River. Production was carried out by MAG d.o.o., with Artonix Studios as minority co-producer; post-production was completed at The Platform Group (Los Angeles) and Longplay Studio (Zagreb).[5]
