Scouting and Guiding in Barbados

Is this dab page really necessary? Bearian (talk) 12:47, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

There are actually quite a few unsourced similar dab pages. Do you all want to keep them and source them, or delete them? Bearian (talk) 12:51, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

Seamen's Institute

Please add reliable sources to this stub. I found this and the ones mentioned in the section immediately above, while working on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced articles/Backlog drives/June 2025. Bearian (talk) 12:52, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

Girl Guides

There is a discussion on the Talk:Girl Guides#Girl Guides or girl-only Scout organisations? about changing the purpose of the Girl Guides article to be specifically about Girl Guide organizations but not Girl Scout organizations that might be of interest to some here. Erp (talk) 02:02, 4 June 2025 (UTC)

I noticed that the description at the top for the purpose of the articles Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, etc. didn't exactly make sense: "General summary pages that have see also links to other Scouting pages. Used to avoid to lead users to more indepth articles, no longer disambiguation pages due to all the confusion of different naming conventions. All other plurals redirect to the singular per Wikipedia standard, not to Scouting or a separate organization oriented article"; the previous version was "Disambiguation pages due to all the confusion of different naming conventions. All other plurals redirect to the singular per Wikipedia standard, not to Scouting or a separate organization oriented article ". I edited it so it made some sense. I hunted down the revision (July 2007) where the last change took place (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Scouting&oldid=144658662) and the discussion related to it Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Scouting/Archive_2007#Girl_Guides_-_dab_or_stub?. However the discussion doesn't seem to fully support the change in text. In addition the Girl Guides article certainly isn't following either version. Thoughts? --Erp (talk) 10:20, 7 June 2025 (UTC)

Proposed for deletion (PROD): World Citizenship Award

FYI, the article World Citizenship Award has been proposed for deletion (WP:PROD). The first sentences summarize the subject this way:

  • "The World Citizenship Award is an award of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts(WAGGGS). Launched in 1996, the award is given to people outside the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting movement who have contributed to a better world in at least one of the following areas - peace, environment, education, food and nutrition, health, and culture and heritage"

This article was rated in 2007 as being of top importance to WikiProject Scouting

The nominator wrote this summary of their concerns:

  • "For the life of me, I cannot find independent coverage of this award. Even the WAGGGS website doesn't mention it anymore! I find some trivial book mentions in the form of "so and so won X Y and Z awards", but no significant coverage of the award, its history, its creation, etc."

If you agree or disagree with deletion, there are instructions on the deletion notice for what to do.

Discussion about WikiProject banner templates

For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, the banners for talk pages usually say something like:

There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners.
