Vital article core contest
editHi everyone,
I've nominated the Hindu mythology page for the vital article core contest here since it is categorized as a level 5 article. Would anyone be interesting in helping improving the page? Chilicave (talk) 02:11, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Chilicave, I'm potentially interested. What does this entail? Hemmingweigh (talk) 16:16, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Hemmingweigh,
- The core contest runs from April 15 to May 31st and it is a way to improve any of Wikipedia's vital articles. You can read more about the rules here. If you are able to help out, that would be great, since there is still much to be done. Chilicave (talk) 17:54, 7 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Chilicave, I am definitely interested but am wondering if there would need to be more editors involved to make substantial edits before the deadline? What type of improvements to the page did you have in mind? Hemmingweigh (talk) 23:51, 9 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Hemmingweigh, significant change has already been made to the page, but there is no harm in asking others to help out. You can work on expanding on sections if needed, copy editing, bettering lead section, and check organization of content. Chilicave (talk) 20:14, 11 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Chilicave, if you are amenable, I could work on adding narrative and/or thematic summaries of the Upanishads. Hemmingweigh (talk) 01:02, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Chilicave I think this is a really good initiative. I am going to reach out to other users to try and get them involved alongside making the additions I mentioned. Best of luck to you! Hemmingweigh (talk) 19:30, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

Good article reassessment for History of Shaktism
editHistory of Shaktism has been nominated for a good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the reassessment page. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status may be removed from the article. Z1720 (talk) 02:33, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Z1720 thanks for sharing about this. I just wanted to clarify: if I made the suggested edits the article would still be eligible for good article status? What is the timeline for this? Hemmingweigh (talk) 23:35, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
- @Hemmingweigh: If editors make the necessary improvements, the article will not be delisted and will remain a GA. There is no timeline, but it is expected that editors are making continuous progress towards improvements (so if no one edits the article for a while and there are still concerns, the review might be closed as delisted). I have seen some GARs open for several months because improvements were ongoing. I recommend that you comment on the GAR page, letting editors know that you are interested in working on the article. Hi, I've been trying to make the article Sevayat better, and I've asked for peer review. I would greatly appreciate input on this project, given its significance to Odisha temple traditions. -S4yam ✧ talk 15:01, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @S4yam, this is a great article so far. Great work! Here are a couple of things that could be expanded/improved: 1.) You could definitely mention more about Daitas, since there is a good amount of news articles about them. Also, all the hyperlinks need to be checked for accuracy. The first hyperlink of the temple's Record of Rights leads to the general Human Rights page! Let me know if I can be of any more help and good luck on your endeavor. Hemmingweigh (talk) 00:00, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you Hemmingweigh for your time and efforts reviewing the article. I'll definitely improve it by doing the things you mentioned.

RFC on reliable sources noticeboard
editThere is an ongoing RFC (WP:RSN#RfC: Firstpost) on an Indian source that frequently reports on Hinduism-related topics that might be of interest to this wikiproject. UnpetitproleX (talk) 10:54, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- @UnpetitproleX the conversation I see about FirstPost is archived. Does that mean the conversation is over or is it still ongoing? Hemmingweigh (talk) 00:30, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- The RfC has concluded, with the result being that Firstpost can be used with some considerations. UnpetitproleX (talk) 08:37, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- @UnpetitproleX got it. Thanks for all of this! Hemmingweigh (talk) 02:22, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

The article Ezhumattoor Devi Temple has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Tagged for notability concerns for 13 years. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. Poorly sourced. Google searches found very little, and nothing in News or Books.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 02:45, 30 May 2026 (UTC)

The article Maa Pitambara (Bagalamukhi) Temple has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Tagged for notability concerns for 13 years. Poorly sourced article about a temple. A Google search found only social media, Grok, and blogs.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

- For anyone interested, I think this page is being proposed for deletion because an article on Ma Pitambara Bagalamukhi Temple already exists. Maybe it would be helpful to create a redirect for Ma Pitambara to this page? Hemmingweigh (talk) 00:26, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
Ganachakra#In Buddhist tantra section
editJust wondering if anyone has any thoughts on Talk:Ganachakra#Split proposal - I had posted at the talk page, but no one responded to my earlier post - I don't see a need to split, but wanted any thoughts. It is open since 2022. Asteramellus (talk) 23:16, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
- Is the split between Hindu and Buddhist Ganachakra then I don't think the sections are long enough to support a split. Making the Hindu section a stub would remove it from the valuable context of the Buddhist Ganachakra. Hemmingweigh (talk) 00:23, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
Also, if anyone has any thoughts on Talk:Shamlaji#Splitting the article - this is open since 2021. I see some sources with some coverage, but not quite sure if the coverage is significant for a standalone article. Asteramellus (talk) 23:32, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Asteramellus per the conversation on the talk page I'm of the mind that it does not make sense to split unless there are enough sources to support the split. Hemmingweigh (talk) 00:19, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
Devi, Shakti, Mahadevi merge?
editHi all, I wanted to get some thoughts on the Devi, Shakti, and Mahadevi pages. Although these pages are each relatively well developed they overlap substantially. Should these pages be merged? Hemmingweigh (talk) 00:17, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
- I do not think a merge makes sense here. These are related but different concepts, and I think merging them could add confusion - maybe it is obvious to people already familiar with the concepts, but for readers, separate articles helps give clarity. Excess overlap can be cleaned up though. Asteramellus (talk) 22:52, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Asteramellus thanks for this response. I don't know what cleaning up overlap would look like since all three of these articles overlap so significantly. Nevertheless I appreciate your input and am open to alternatives other than merging all three. Hemmingweigh (talk) 02:33, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
Cleanup "Things to Do" --> Hindu Mythology
editHi all, there is a section in Wikipedia Project Hinduism called "Things to Do." The subset on Hindu mythology has some articles that are only 1 or 2 paragraphs and some that are literally just one sentence. Would anyone be interested in going through this list with me and expanding, deleting, or merging these articles to cross them off the "Things to Do" list one by one? It definitely does not make sense to have articles on very minor figures of Hindu mythology that are so short. It would be more useful to add that same information in the context of the text or relevant myth article. Hemmingweigh (talk) 02:41, 15 June 2026 (UTC)
