Importance reassessment for Forgotten Weapons
editI believe the article may fall under the criteria for 'Mid' level importance. Specifically the "Civilians notable for legal use of firearms." criterion. Opecuted (talk) 11:42, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
- Agreed. I've reassessed it as such. ⇒SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 02:37, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
Standardised name for gun control/gun law/firearms regulation articles
editThere seems to be a lack of consistency when it comes to naming of gun control/gun law/firearms regulation articles for various countries. For example, we have:
- Gun law in the United States
- Firearms regulation in the United Kingdom
- Gun laws of Australia
- Gun control in Italy
I don't think there are any partcularly strong reasons for any of the names, and they seem to be randomly chosen. I think it would be good to standardise on a common name, which in my opinion should be "Gun control in X". Elshad (talk) 22:05, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- The issue with using "Gun control" is that many regulations have nothing to do with "control". California's Prop 65 is a prime example -- it's an environmental/health regulation, that acts as a regulation on firearms and ammunition but is not specifically intended for gun control. "Gun laws in" or "Firearms regulation in" are both better terms, with the former being more WP:CONCISE and the latter being more WP:PRECISE as regulations are not necessarily laws (and in the US, many of the most noticeable ones are not, but are rather administrative regulations). I'd support either one, but prefer "Gun laws in" as being more accessible and concise. ⇒SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 02:33, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
