The DCWC is back!
edit
WikiProject Dominican Republic, the Developing Countries WikiContest will be returning for a second year, and sign-ups are now open! The contest will run from 1 July to 30 September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia.
In other news, we have a new face on the coordinator team this year: last year's sixth-place finisher, Arconning (talk · contribs)! The coordinators would like to extend a sincere thanks to Ixtal (talk · contribs), who is leaving the team, without whom the contest would not exist. After feedback from contestants last year, the scoring rules are undergoing some modifications; the new rules and a summary of the changes made will be posted to the contest talk page shortly.
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page, use the {{@DCWC coordinators}} template, or contact one of the coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). | Review request | Draft:Oceanlily
editHi members, I've prepared Draft:Oceanlily about Dominican filmmaker Oceanlily (Dilia Pacheco Méndez). The draft documents her award-winning films and recently launched documentary series covered by multiple reliable sources. Would appreciate feedback on sourcing, notability, and neutrality from editors familiar with Wikipedia's standards for cultural figures. Thanks! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Oceanlily --CaribbeanCrownCinema (talk) 20:35, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
Project members are invited to participate in the Destubathon of the Americas, a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to $2680 in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:16, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
I'm adding some content to the article on the palmchat, with is the Dominican national bird. My major source is pretty light on the importance of the species, in folklore or cultural terms. The source is twenty years old and is primarily scientific, but states the species has little importance beyond "being there" and being the national bird. I was wondering if that had changed or if the ornithologist had missed anything, and this project seems the logical place to ask. Sabine's Sunbird talk 02:23, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
Please consider destubifying this, or in the alternative, sending to WP:AfD. Ping me if you decide to do something. Bearian (talk) 18:49, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
