Including release years in parentheses after titles

edit

I'm asking out of curiosity—I've noticed that in some song and album articles, the title is consistently followed by the release year in parentheses, even when it's mentioned multiple times throughout the article. Is this an established convention? If so, could someone point me to a relevant guideline or policy that explains it? AstrooKai (Talk) 22:24, 27 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

quote box for notation

edit

At Parsons code {{quote box}} and <pre>...</pre> tags are used for the notation. Is that the correct way to do this? I looked at the MoS but didn't see an example. Gonnym (talk) 16:58, 16 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

I can think of other ways than {{quote box}} to present Parsons code, but they all would involve some method of preventing a proportional type face. What's the objection? -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 01:11, 17 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
That specific example had an error which was now fixed, but I've never encountered this before so I wanted to know if I should convert it to something that the MoS supports. Gonnym (talk) 09:46, 17 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Proposal to make MOS:ALBUM a formal guideline

Discography lists

edit

With the advent of streaming platforms, every single song can be described as "single", and I noticed some musicians have long lists of such "singles", see, e.g., Mirud (singer)#Singles. Is there a guideline about discographies? --Altenmann >talk 18:32, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

OK, I found Wikipedia:Singles criteria. Does it make sense to suggest the promotion of it to guideline, as for MOS:ALBUM in the section above? --Altenmann >talk 18:36, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
