How can we reduce this figure? Maybe by combining the pages? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 21:27, 8 December 2025 (UTC)

Two unrelated questions
editA couple questions have come to mind. First, I take it it's fine helping a user putting submitting a malformed unblock request, but should that be done if the request would certainly be declined (e.g. the reason is simply "I want to edit the page")? Second, I thought I saw something a while back about partial unblocks? I comes to mind because I saw a couple discussions where there was consideration of unblocking a user solely so they could participate in a relevant ANI thread. - There are specific circumstances that can wildly change the appropriate move, but generally I'd support efforts to fix malformed requests. My belief is that editors would prefer to have a poor appeal declined quickly than to have it ignored for weeks or months because no admins are aware of it. For the second part, are you maybe thinking about WP:BLOCK#Unblocks in temporary circumstances? Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 03:00, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. On the first bit, yeah. I kinda just wondered if it would waste admins time, but on second thought, sometimes it takes a declined unblock for someone to figure out how to submit a proper one. The temporary circumstances unblock is along the lines of what I was thinking of. But I thought I saw something about partial unblocks, or at least something along the lines of a partial block, but in reverse. i.e. while a partial block blocks a person from a specific page/namespace this would block someone from everything but a specific page/namespace. Did I misremember something? TornadoLGS (talk) 03:17, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- TornadoLGS, I haven't seen any guidance about the mass-partial-block method, and I haven't seen it in practice. The way our block buttons work, we'd have to manually select every namespace except Wikipedia. I think the temporary circumstances unblock is a neater solution. Appeal for possible proxy block – User josephatmashehe
editHello, I am trying to edit Wikipedia but my account appears to be blocked, possibly due to a proxy or network issue. My username is josephatmashehe. I am editing from Tanzania and may have been affected by a network IP block. Could you please review this situation? Thank you very much. Josephat Mashehe ~2026-15479-72 (talk) 06:35, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
- This is not the pace to appeal a block. It's not a proxy block, you are blocked directly- and globally locked- for sock puppetry and spamming. 331dot (talk) 07:46, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
