edit- Epistemic Justice Wikipedia editathon held on 4th March 2026 at 40 George Square with invited colleagues from the School of Philosophy and Philosophy Society and delivered by Assistant Wikimedian in Residence, Anna Judelson.
- International Women’s Day Wikipedia editathon held on 9th March 2026 at the Molly Fergusson Room at King’s Buildings campus and delivered by Assistant Wikimedian in Residence, Anna Judelson.
- Digital Volunteering with Wikipedia – the Edinburgh Award - Over 138,000 words added to Wikipedia as the project concluded on 31 March 2026. The 6 student award achievers delivered their final 5-10 presentations on 25 March 2026 which have been recorded and shared to YouTube and Media Hopper. They attended the end of award celebration event on Tuesday 21st April at the grand Playfair Library with all the other Edinburgh Award achievers.
- Digital Heritage and Open Knowledge (Wikimedia) internship - Maya Field appointed to the post which will begin on 1st June 2026 for 12 weeks full-time and focus on supporting the Nursing Studies 70th celebration and Edinburgh Medical School's 300th anniversary.
- Student Experience Grant project - Three History Society students trained how to edit Wikipedia on 22nd April as part of funded 12 week p/t project to contribute to the Edinburgh Medical School's 300 Faces of 300 years project.

edit- Digital Volunteering with Wikipedia – 55–80hr Edinburgh Award - 6 students delivered their final presentations and final submissions for the deadline of 30 March 2026 and were put forward to receive the Edinburgh Award at the end of its fifth year at the University. 138,00 words contributed to Wikipedia.
- Philosophy and Epistemic Justice editathon – EM and Assistant Wikimedian Anna Judelson liaised with Philosophy Society's Victoria Wang to prepare, promote and deliver an editathon aimed at Philosophy staff and students to promote networking and themed on epistemic justice. This went ahead Wed 4th March.
- International Women’s Day 2026 – E. McAndrew and Assistant Wikimedian Anna Judelson delivered editahon for this year’s IWD at the Molly Fergusson Room at King’s Buildings in partnership with the Molly Fergusson Initiative (Engineering) and the School of Theoretical Physics.

edit- Student Experience Grant and the 300th anniversary of the Medical School - a funded £4,000 Student Experience Grant application has been approved and begun with three History Society students as co-applicants to help research and produce Wikipedia articles about individuals from the Medical School's 300 year history related to a project theme of 300 Faces from EMS300 as part of a one day a week project for 12 weeks. First Wikipedia training session held on 22nd April 2026.

edit- Information and Data Literacy internship - Dervla Craig still continuing in the role on a one day a week part-time basis until 8 June 2026. Latest developments include the University's decision not to pursue a NLHF bid and to try and resource supporting the Survey of Scottish Witchcraft database through internal provision and a new Information and Data Literacy intern to commence 12 weeks f/t as of 1st June 2026.
Digital Heritage and Open Knowledge internship
edit- 6 students interviewed for the position on 1st April 2026 with Maya Field appointed. She will commence work on 1st June 2026 on a f/t 12 week project to celebrate the Nursing Studies 70th anniversary and the Edinburgh Medical School's 300th anniversary through surfacing information from the archives to the Wikimedia projects.

Partnership interactions
editSee below for all partnership interactions and enquiries. The following Wikimedia in the curriculum projects took place in Semester Two:
- Korean Studies MSc and East Asian Studies MSc - Dr. Youngmi Kim, 13 February 2026.
- Discussions on co-designing a new assignment with Niki Pryde for Anthropology undergraduate students.
The next step is for the new Assistant Wikimedian in Residence, Anna Judelson, to send out an email to different schools and geographical locations of the University to secure invites for presentations and training workshops by the residency in order to collaborate with subject areas that have not previously engaged with the residency. We have already secured an invite to present at the College of Medicine's Usher Symposium on 16 June from this approach so will look to engage the remaining two colleges in a similar approach.

- Wikidata, Metadata and Graph in the Age of AI at the BBC – E. McAndrew invited among other contributors to attend this one day event on 11 March at BBC Scotland, Pacific Quay.
- GLAMLab Futures event - E. McAndrew liaising with Mahenda Maley about potentially presenting at this event held at the Edinburgh Futures Institute in June.
- University of Pittsburgh visit - E. McAndrew, Dr. Kirsty Murray and Ellie Whitehead preparing a 2hr presentation on the European and Scottish witch trials for 16 visiting Creative Writing students from the University of Pittsburgh for 8 May 2026.

The abstract is as follows: Title: Wikipedia Editing 101: Improving Health Literacy One Edit at a Time. Description: As a key source of public health information, Wikipedia plays a powerful role in shaping what people know about medicine. This session introduces the basics of editing Wikipedia and explores why these skills are increasingly relevant for medical students and professionals. You will learn how to improve the quality, accessibility, and representation of health information online.

edit- Wikidata, Metadata and Graph in the Age of AI at the BBC – E. McAndrew invited among other contributors to attend this one day event on 11 March at BBC Scotland, Pacific Quay. In the end, EM had to cancel owing to ill health but Lucy Hinnie represented Wikimedia Scotland/UK at the event in any case.
- The Edinburgh Award final celebration - for all award achievers took place on Tues 21 April 5.45-7pm and the Digital Volunteering with Wikipedia award achievers and Wikimedian in Residence got a chance to outline the award & its outcomes to guest speaker, Lucy Evans, the University’s Deputy Secretary (a vital role in leading and influencing change across the University to enhance the student experience).

- 300th anniversary of the Medical School - E. McAndrew is supporting the approved £4,000 Student Experience Grant project and its three History Society student co-applicants working on the 300 Faces of Edinburgh Medical School's 300 year history and sharing these histories onto Wikipedia and Wikidata from 24 February to June 2026.
- Wikimedia in the Curriculum: E. McAndrew writing up two new case studies following interviews last year from Dr. Huw Halstead and Dr. Sarah Liu.
- Assistant Wikimedian in Residence: Anna Judelson has run half a dozen Wikipedia workshops so far and prepared a new social media and email communication strategy. We are next working on improved website and Sharepoint sites.
- Recruitment of Digital Heritage and Open Knowledge (Wikimedia) intern: 32 applications received for a student intern to be recruited for 12 weeks full-time this Summer (June 2026) and working with the 70th anniversary of Nursing Studies (and its archive) and 300 years of the Edinburgh Medical School as well as other related & existing Wikidata projects. Maya Field has been appointed and will commence work on 1st June 2026.
- AI and Wikipedia - EM and AJ investigating how AI content is detected on Wikipedia with a view to better supporting staff and students at the University.
- University of Michigan visit - EM preparing a 1-2 hour presentation for a 5th June visit from Digital Humanities students from the University of Michigan interested in the Scottish witch trials, the Survey of Scottish Witchcraft database and the Map of Accused Witches in Scotland (Wikidata project).
- AI-Bridges Symposium - EM invited to attend this two-day symposium event at University of London on 28-29 May and chair a roundtable discussion on AI and Open Knowledge at Universities.
- Research study - Dr Caitlin McDonald and Morgan Currie (Creative Informatics) have invited EM to be interviewed for their new research project, Economic and infrastructural risks to digital archives posed by AI-driven content extraction, arising from the talk by Lane Becker (Wikimedia LLC) last year.
