I realy can't see much difference - the old image seems to have better contrast but I've no idea how it is supposed to look. The new one hasn't been restored, has it? I wonder what our expert restorers think? Charlesjsharp (talk) 19:04, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Charlesjsharp, the Library of Congress file from which this is derived is a scan of a copy of the original photograph (which mucks up the levels). The current FP version has been downsampled (which obscures dust), but both have been restored. I've reworked the levels and contrast (you may need to purge your cache).
