This article is about American singer JoJo's fourth studio album. She is well known for her songs like "Leave (Get Out)" or "Too Little Too Late". However, due to disputes with her former label Blackground Records, JoJo was unable to release music for nearly a decade. After filing a lawsuit against the label, she returned with several EPs and mixtapes, followed by her third studio album, Mad Love (2016). Her fourth album, Good to Know, focuses largely on themes of self-reflection and personal growth. I also hope this article can become JoJo's first Featured Article, since I cannot find her good/featured articles listed here. Probably gonna need a citation for the sentence "...it marks her first release since leaving Atlantic Records and launching her own record label imprint Clover Music through a joint venture with Warner Records", since that sentence isn't "just common sense" and is not mentioned at all within the prose.
"It was shaped by her experiences in the music industry..." — I don't think I saw anything about this in the prose? But maybe I just missed it.
"Some critics noted its shift toward a more R&B-focused direction and its departure from conventional pop structures." — I only see one critic mentioning something like this, so "some" seems inaccurate.
[citation needed] on the album being recorded in 2019. She wrote it in 2019 per the article, but she very well could have recorded it January–April 2020.

Background and inspiration

Reading this article with no context on JoJo's career, I'm confused about the relationship between Blackground Records, Da Family Entertainment, and Interscope Records. From what I'm reading, JoJo "had not been able to release any studio albums in ten years" due to a dispute with Blackground Records... after accusing a separate record company of keeping her in limbo in 2009? But even then, in the ten years since that dispute (2009--2019), the article says she *did* release a new studio album: Mad Love in 2016. And Interscope just kind of falls in the crosshairs somewhere? The first part of this first paragraph might benefit from a rewrite to clarify the chronology of events.
"JoJo was abstaining from sex when writing Good to Know in 2019..." — Is this relevant? Especially because it's the first sentence of this paragraph, I'd expect something like this to lead into how this abstinence played a role into the writing, themes, etc. of the record as a whole. However, it only seems to be used to contrast the album's themes of sensuality, which just feels like a piece of personal information jammed in for the sake of it. It's not like a person needs to be sexually active to write songs or sing about the subject.
I also recommend moving some of these themes down to the third paragraph in this section. This is because the article currently splits the discussion of the album's themes between these two paragraphs, and has the meaning of the album's title stuck in between.
"The title of Good to Know reflects 'everything [JoJo had] learned in the past few years'..." — I didn't quite understand what this was getting at until I read the full quote from the source itself. Maybe rephrase it as "The title of Good to Know reflects the value of learning from feedback and criticism..." or something?

Composition

I found this source currently not included in the article, which brings some interesting analysis into whether this album can be considered "hip-hop" and gives a score to the album, to boot. Would be worth including, imo: Rap Reviews.

I think it's disingenuous to say that "a variety of media outlets" described Good to Know this way when it is obviously from a press release. It's not like these outlets came to this conclusion on their own, they were simply quoting a promotional statement released by the label.
Looking at the source, I don't think that JoJo was influenced by the studio sessions themselves, rather it was from the visits to the strip clubs.
De-link numb, it's an everyday word (MOS:OL).
Ditto for string. If nothing else, it should at least direct to String instrument rather than just String.

I also noticed that JoJo's three EP releases were all with Atlantic Records, meaning that they should ideally be moved after the mention of her signing onto Atlantic to keep the section in chronological order. For the "abstaining from sex", I used it to emphasize the latter phrase ("although the album mainly deals with themes of sex and sensuality"), since it's read naturally as well (as I believe? lol). I also believe it would be lowkey helpful for the album's overall background and theme, but let me know what you think about it (like trimming it to something better etc.) And for the seasoning issue, I just summed it to "Spring" and directly quoted it since she herself stated that the album would be out "Spring 2020". Although I am also aware of that MoS, I'm not sure how to fix this perfectly; fixing it to something like "March" or "May" seems more original research to me. Do you have any suggestions for it? Saying that Good to Know is JoJo's "first release since leaving Atlantic Records and launching her own record label imprint Clover Music" is contradicted by the prose saying that she released re-recordings of her first two albums prior.
"...referencing musician Thundercat's phrase: 'It is what it is. It's good to know.'" — "Phrase" feels weird here, since it makes this seem like one of Thundercat's catchphrases or some other established proverbial expression when she is simply quoting a one-off thing he said.
I still think the whole mention of JoJo's sex life is kinda unnecessary, but if nothing else I'd at least suggest flipping the order of the sentence ("About sex, despite JoJo abstaining") in order to put the emphasis on the album's themes rather than on JoJo.
"As noted in a press release as an..." -> "As noted in a press release, it is an...", and fixing up the rest of the sentence accordingly. Although tbh, I might suggest getting rid of the press release quote altogether, since it comes of as relatively promotional and doesn't actually say all that much about the record (it's already defined as an R&B album before, and the emotional honesty stuff is all in the 'Background and inspiration' section).

"...where her "strong" vocals are featured." — Surely "strong" doesn't need to be a direct quote, when it doesn't seem particularly charged and thus could be easily paraphrased.
Since it's so short, consider merging the 'Commercial performance' section into the 'Release' section. This is something done in several other FAs with limited performance, like Guitar Songs, Pod (The Breeders album), and Intimacy (Bloc Party album); not a requirement by any means, but certainly worth a thought.

Are you sure it's worth listing both physical and digital durations? My understanding is that we're supposed to just stick with runtimes of standard versions for albums. Either way, the deluxe version's length certainly shouldn't be added here.

Although I did not add this, I believe the physicial and digital editions are both regarded as "standard" edition (The deluxe edition exists featuring the red album cover), and I couldn't decide what to remove from the infobox. I'm surprised you didn't highlight Portugal when that had the highest placement among primary charts at 22 (with the others being 33 for US and 78 for Scotland; UK charts are just component ones).

Background and inspiration

How much of the first paragraph (label conflicts) affected the contents of this album? Much of that seems more relevant for the Mad Love article instead, particularly its chart details.
- When I search for the sources... a lot of sources were mentioning about her career as well. I also believe the album's overall theme was highly influenced by her "musical limbo", but I admit that I cannot convince this. I have a clarification question about the following part, after they had been removed from streaming services. From my understanding, and please correct me if I am wrong, but Blackground Records are responsible for JoJo's albums being removed from streaming service. If that is true (and if it can be supported by sources), then I would clarify that in the prose, as this would be helpful context to provide for readers.
I would clarify in the prose that Thundercat is also JoJo's friend. I would keep the part about him being a musician as that is also important, but I think that adding that they are friends would also be necessary. Without that piece of information, the Thundercat reference felt a bit random to me. And the citation for that particular sentence already supports the friendship.
This may just be a matter of personal preference, but I do have a comment for the following sentence: Good to Know draws from her "inspirations, [her] patterns, [her] fantasies and what makes [her] feel good"; its writing process helped her "find [her] voice" and regain a sense of control, according to JoJo. I think that it would be better to start the sentence with According to JoJo, ... to more immediately let readers know who is saying these quotes. Again, this could simply be a matter of personal preference, but I think that would be better in this specific context, rather than having it at the end of the sentence.
I have a comment for the following sentence: Good to Know is a pop and R&B album influenced by the hip-hop styles of Canadian artists such as the Weeknd, Tory Lanez, and Drake. I wonder if a link to the Canadian hip-hop article could be helpful. This might not be necessary, so feel free to ignore this. This is more of a suggestion or an idea than a requirement.
Apologies in advance for bringing this up again, but I am not fully convinced by the argument for the audio sample (File:JoJo - So Bad.ogg). The caption is about the specific song and its specific production, not about how the audio sample represents anything about the album. The audio sample and the caption feel better suited for a song article, rather than an album article.

JoJo has done an anniversary performance of Good to Know on July 12, 2021. She uploaded the performance as a video on her YouTube channel. I would look into this further, and this would seem relevant to bring up in the article.
On a somewhat related note, it may be beneficial to add the JoJo Tour 2022 to this article, as that seems to be related to this album as well.
I am seeing that some sources represent the album title as good to know. Would that be relevant enough to add as a note in the article? Is that something done officially or is that just how some publications stylized it?

I have a suggestion for this sentence: He compared its sound to an updated take on Control (1986) by Janet Jackson. I think that it would be beneficial to say something along the lines of Janet Jackson's 1986 album Control instead. I just think that it would be helpful to clarify that Control is an album. It might be obvious though already, so feel free to disagree with this.

For Citation 14 (i.e. 'Good To Know': JoJo On Coming Out Of Hardship With First New Album Since 2016), I would recommend that you use Template:Cite interview as that feels like a better match for the source. That and you can fill out further information (like the interviewer's name), which would be good for readers to know (pun fully intended lol).
