Shortcuts
Please review the AWB guide before making a request. Users are rarely approved unless they have either 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits. You can check your non-automated contributions on XTools. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to request access. For bots, you must first have a bot approval request approved, or in trial; link to your BRFA in the request.
This page is for requesting AWB Access for English Wikipedia only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.
If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for that purpose; first create the account, give it a userpage declaring it to be your alternate account, then make the request using your main account.
Please note that administrators may not ping you in replies, so please check on your request if you have not heard anything.
Especially for new users, it is helpful (although not strictly required) to explain what specific task you intend to use AWB to do in your request.

I would like access to AWB to help expanding Wikipedia's (Japanese) horse articles. There are many, many pages that lead to stubs and other small areas that really should be going to longer entries found elsewhere. For example, many horses have a link to the Japanese Triple Crown entry on the global triple crown page, which is essentially a stub. They should all go to the expanded Japanese Triple Crown page instead, but manually searching for these wikilinks across tens of horses is very tedious and should be automated. Hello! I'd like AWB rights to correct typos, (I'll ideally choose one possible typo to correct every day, though this might be every week), and to... yeah, typos is basically it.
