Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. Hi פסיפיקו. I wanted to let you know that the above linked article has been protected per a request at WP:RFPP. In the course of reviewing the article and its history, unfortunately I found that the page has no clear citations to any reliable sources. This needs to be corrected urgently, given the controversial subject matter and claims. And also to establish encyclopedic notability. Upon reflection, I have concluded that this page does not currently meet community standards for a mainspace article. Ah I see. You recreated the page in the mainspace. Ok, we don't want two pages on the same subject and we can't have that in the mainspace until the various issues are resolved. External links don't count for referencing. Please see the guideline at WP:CITE. If you haven't read it, please also check out Your First Article. I am going to delete the newly recreated page in the mainspace, but will wait an hour to allow you time to copy whatever material you want to save. Thank you very much for helping me. I have now improved it by adding reliable references and establishing encyclopedic notability, and I am continuing to improve it further. Hi Pacifico. It has been pointed out to me, correctly, that you should not be creating pages that are under mandatory EC editing restrictions until such time as you reach extended confirmed status. As there is a plausible argument for notability here, as a courtesy I am going to move the page back to draft space instead of simply deleting it outright. However the extended confirmed editing restrictions are going back into place and you will have to wait until you reach EC before you will be able to edit the draft. Please do not attempt to create or recreate pages subject to the EC sanctions until then. If you have created other pages subject to EC editing restrictions, these may be either moved to draft space or deleted per WP:CSD G5. Thank you for your contributions to the project.
