Still around?
editAre you still around? Had a few questions about {{Infobox weather event}} and its sub templates.... Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 01:21, 21 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, @Zackmann08! Yes, I'm still around. Been busy the past few days due to travel. Please leave your message anyway regardless of whether I'm around or not. Chlod (top • contribs) 18:40, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
- That's fair! Sorry for that. Looking at all the subtemplates of Infobox weather event and there appears to be a lot of redundancy of code. Before I push ahead with making them into Template wrappers, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Seems like many of these templates could be dramatically simplified by making them into wrappers of {{Infobox weather event/scale}}. Am I missing something? Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 20:54, 22 May 2026 (UTC)
- Not missing anything; that is indeed pretty much the case. When converting to wrappers, just make sure to keep
|auto-category=, which powers most of the logic, and|agency=,|scale=,|interval=, and|postinterval=for display. The rest (if I remember correctly) are mostly boilerplate. Also keep in mind that some templates, like {{Infobox weather event/NWS}}, should wrap around {{Infobox weather event/SSHWS}} instead; this is a case where multiple agencies use the same scale (in this case, the National Weather Service and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. Thanks! Chlod (top • contribs) 04:26, 23 May 2026 (UTC)- How, on earth, did you keep all this straight while you were building these templates?! WOW! Impressive. I'll be starting on this project in the coming days. Thanks! Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 05:15, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- I think I have successfully made all the templates wrappers. Let me know if you see any funny buisness? Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 18:37, 24 May 2026 (UTC)

Question from BradyBunchFan on Mohammed Odeh (Palestinian militant) (02:30, 28 May 2026)
editUnder the death place, can the citation be converted into a proper reference? --BradyBunchFan (talk) 02:30, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
- @BradyBunchFan:
Done! In the future, you may want to use something like reFill if you're on a mobile device and can't use the visual editor to build the citation for you. Chlod (top • contribs) 02:58, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
Hello! I'm wondering if you could provide any insight into how the Talk page generally works? I proposed an edit to Denmark about 2 weeks ago, but there haven't been any replies despite ongoing edits to the article. Thank you! --Bean7200 (talk) 06:06, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, @Bean7200! Really sorry for the late reply. Talk pages are the correct place to have discussions about article content, but usually you won't find much people talking in them. In most cases, you're encouraged to be bold and make the changes yourself. If, for whatever reason, you're unable to make those edits yourself (due to the page being protected, or something else), you might want to consider making an edit request, which someone will attend to in due time. Question from CultOfTheWarGoddess (17:30, 2 June 2026)
edit- Note: CultOfTheWarGoddess's mentor Qcne is away.
how do I edit a glossary? I am trying to add a term to the page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_early_twentieth_century_slang_in_the_United_States but have no clue how to add the templates and add text to them --CultOfTheWarGoddess (talk) 17:30, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, @CultOfTheWarGoddess! This is one of the pages that uses a different citation style, so I understand that it might be harder to add something to this page. If you'd like, you can make an edit request to add the term and definition to the page. An experienced contributor is likely to come across it and make the changes for you. Please make sure to also include a reliable source for the term when making your request.
Chlod (top • contribs) 16:25, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
- I already added a few terms, so that they would at least be there and I could add citations once I learned how to. Should I still make an edit request, and if so should I remove the terms then make an edit request for the terms and citations, or just leave them and make an edit request for just the citations? CultOfTheWarGoddess (talk) 16:33, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
- @CultOfTheWarGoddess: You can ask specifically for citations to be added; no need to take the definitions off. Just make sure to clearly state which citations should go to which terms. Chlod (top • contribs) 17:39, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

how do I add a citation to a template? --CultOfTheWarGoddess (talk) 16:04, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
- @CultOfTheWarGoddess: To add a citation to a template, copy in the
<ref>...citation into the template. Note that adding citations to templates is currently not possible with the visual editor; you'll need to use the source editor to add citations to templates. Chlod (top • contribs) 16:27, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
DCWC call for coordinators
edit
Hey Chlod, it's almost that time again! The Developing Countries WikiContest will be returning for its third year, and the coordinator team is looking for experienced content contributors willing to volunteer. The coordinators are responsible for keeping the contest running and its pages—including participants' submissions, the points leaderboard, and the list of eligible articles—updated.
If you would like to apply, please contact one of the coordinators; you may choose to do so privately if you wish: Arconning (talk · email), sawyer777 (talk · email), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · email). UserHighlighter
editI've been using User:Chlod/Scripts/UserHighlighter.js (thanks!), but noticed that it makes many signatures unreadable in dark mode. From playing around with the css, it looks like a couple of easy fixes would be to change link.addClass('userhighlighter'); to either link.addClass('skin-invert userhighlighter'); (which inverts the background color) or link.addClass('notheme userhighlighter'); (which prevents the text color from inverting). --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 21:27, 17 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, @Ahecht! Thanks for giving a suggestion. I originally wanted to pick custom dark mode colors, but I never got around to doing that. I've added
skin-invert; please let me know if the highlights look better.

The DCWC is back!
edit
Hey Chlod, the Developing Countries WikiContest is back for a third year, and sign-ups are now open! The contest will run from 1 July to 30 September, and the objective remains the same: improve as many articles relating to developing countries as you can to help fight systemic bias on Wikipedia.
Thanks to everyone who answered the call for coordinators, and please welcome the new faces on the coordinator team: the 2024 Gold Belt Buckle winner Generalissima (talk · contribs); and the record-holder for most India-related submissions in 2024, Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs)! Following feedback from last year, adjustments have been made to the scoring rules; discussion can be found on the contest talk page.
If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or contact one of the coordinators: Arconning (talk · contribs), Generalissima (talk · contribs), Magentic Manifestations (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs).
