Message regarding your use of the No Multi License Template

edit

In case you are not aware, the Wikimedia Foundation has proposed that the copyright licensing terms on the wikis operated by the WMF – including Wikipedia – be changed to include the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) license in addition to the current GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) as allowed by version 1.3 of the GFDL. The community has approved this change with 75.8% in favor, and on June 15, 2009, the change will take effect.
You currently have {{NoMultiLicense}} on your user or user talk page, which states that your edits are licensed under the GFDL only. On or before June 15, this template will be changed to reflect Wikipedia's new licensing terms. If you accept the licensing change, you do not need to do anything (and feel free to remove this message); if you do not accept it, we regret that you will no longer be able to contribute to the encyclopedia. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#NoMultiLicense template if you have any comments.

Thank you for uploading File:IT 1971-09-09 B-IT-Volume-1 Iss-112 020-clip.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 03:15, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:IT 1971-09-09 B-IT-Volume-1 Iss-112 020-clip.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:IT 1971-09-09 B-IT-Volume-1 Iss-112 020-clip.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 11:21, 23 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

There is no proof that they exist by law. All incorporated cites in Nevada are Cities. the CDP's have town boards, but they are not incorporated as a town, which there is not just thing in Nevada. Leave Message, Yellow Evan home
They do not exist on state law. Leave Message, Yellow Evan home

They problem is what is a definition of a town? By state law there is no clear definition of a town. Maybe the category should retiled Category:Places in Nevada with town boards? Most CDP's in Nevada and some unincorporated places have town boards or homeowners association. Leave Message, Yellow Evan home
Fair, but User:Nyttend said that the town of Indian Springs is "A CDP, not a town". Leave Message, Yellow Evan home

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

Proposed deletion of Bombsite

edit

The article Bombsite has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article has been an unreferenced stub for almost 6 years now. There is no indication of notability of the topic, and the author's claim of relevance of such sites to the psycho-social outlook of post-war Europe is not supported by references, leading to the conclusion that it essentially original research. The only improvement in the article in 6 years has been some modifications in tagging, but the original text remains essentially unchanged.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fair use rationale for File:Books.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Books.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hi. If you have a question about why OTRS didn't accept this image, please place it at commons:Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard. Otherwise, we can't just keep it around forever on the idea the OTRS is pending. Magog the Ogre (talk) 23:29, 6 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message. I've given up on beating my head against the brick wall of Wikipedia's system for getting images accepted. The image in question was was made available by the copyright owners for public usage and I also emailed the copyright owner and got an email back confirming permission to use the image in Wikipedia. I forwarded the email to the appropriate department in Wikipedia but it still wasn't sufficient to be accepted. I guess if somebody has decided to be obstinate about it then no amount of authorisation is ever going to be sufficient. I certainly have better things to do with my time than keep repeating over and over that usage of this image is permitted by the owner.
With no animosity whatsoever but a great deal of regret,
Sincerely,
--wayland (talk) 01:36, 8 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

It was insufficient because of WP:CSD#F3 - "for use on Wikipedia" isn't sufficient authorization, because Wikipedia licenses itself under {{GFDL}} and/or {{cc-by-sa-3.0-migrated}}. The idea behind Wikipedia is that anyone can copy it and use it for their purposes. If we have an image that is OK "for use on Wikipedia," then people aren't allowed to copy and use it for their purposes. Magog the Ogre (talk) 01:48, 8 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of UCDavis Center for Animal Alternatives

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on UCDavis Center for Animal Alternatives requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. LA freak scene

edit

The information you added to LA freak scene is completely unsourced. I moved it to Freak-out (slang) since there is no correlation between the info you added and the LA freak scene, but still the information is unsourced. Not sure if it should be removed for trivia but I preserved it on that page. There are many 1960s songs that reference "freaks", which is why I made the freak-out page, it's a neologism that was big in the counterculture back then. The freak scene page had been messed up with OR for years with none of the info correlating with the actual SoCal freak scene that inspired Frank Zappa, and more so just using these disparate uses of the term "freak" from the counterculture. Aradicus77 (talk) 02:38, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Of course it has a source. For goodness sake read the thing. The information is sourced from Tom Wolfe's book. The source is clearly stated. You simply need to read the book and count the number of times he uses "freak", "freaking" and other forms and conjugations of the same. The Joni Mitchell material is sourced to a commercially published gramophone record of the song in question. A thing doesn't become unsourced when you simply ignore the sources. That's the thing here.
The reason for placing that information onto that particular page was because the page was originally about the Freak Scene in general, not about Los Angeles. Aradicus77 (yourself) moved the page from "Freak Scene" to "Los Angeles Freak Scene" on the 20th of January 2026 (this year).
When I noticed that the entire history of the Freak Scene, so fondly remembered by us older people now in our 70s, had been inexplicably relocated to the West Coast of the U.S.A. I felt it was appropriate to include a little reference to the Ken Kesey source material which proves that not all of us freaks were in any way connected to Los Angeles.
Of course, you are free to go on rewriting history if that's your thing but I suggest that you ought to check your facts a little more carefully. Punk may have tried to bury the history of the Freak Scene but they failed. Some of us are still here. wayland (talk) 14:40, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
There is no such thing as a "Freak Scene" in general. You have been adding all kinds of original research with disparate sources. Your edit here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Freak-out_(slang)&diff=prev&oldid=1346057732 is ludicrous for someone who has been on the site for decades. You just make up half of what you are adding here. There is no correlation to any source. Also I was not referring to the Tom Wolfe book at all in your edits. I'm referring to adding trivial information like random songs that used the word freak. It was accompanied by no source. None of your sources even say "freak scene" verbatim. I will report you if you keep doing this because accusing me of rewriting history when it's actually you doing so it's also insane. The way you are speaking as well "noticed that the entire history of the Freak Scene, so fondly remembered by us older people now in our 70s", implies you have a bias and strong connection to the subject. Remember Wikipedia is about what RS says not what your own anecdotal lived experiences say. Even then everything you are adding is pure BS. Aradicus (talk) 17:24, 1 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I don't "make up" any of the data I add. I remove data added by other people when it turns out to be false. I removed false citations which were claimed to be from a couple of books which did not contain any of the quotes attributed to them. wayland (talk) 20:14, 1 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
You added no source that ever mentioned the word "Punk" or "Alternative society". You seem to just be writing what you feel should be on the page rather than what Wikipedia:Reliable sources reflect. It is your edits that are taking the page from being accurate to just being original research. I did like your etymology edits for the origin of the phrase though the sourcing was a bit shoddy, but a lot of your big paragraphs are insane. Aradicus (talk) 01:39, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Freak-out_(slang)&diff=prev&oldid=1346620966] This edit reads more like an essay than an Encyclopedia. Are you seriously not seeing any issue with this? This is my main issue with this website, disruptive editors who have been around for years who seem to have slipped through the cracks and never been spotted for what they are doing which in turn ends up ruining information for niche topics like this. Aradicus (talk) 01:42, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
There are other ways of communicating y'know mate. Realise that I am in the process of writing, adding references, identifying sources and fixing links etc as I go. If you wanted to be polite you could simply add a code saying something like "needs more citations" or "lacks a reference" or something and I'll fix it in due course if wasn't already going to anyway. Try to keep a cool head on. wayland (talk) 01:51, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I realise it's been a couple of months, but responding to your comment at the CfD about emptying the category out of process ("since this is a very recent creation (by me) I reserve the right to change my mind"), please see the policy on Wikipedia:Ownership of content. If a category is being discussed, changing the contents of the category derails the discussion. Even if you made the category, that doesn't mean you can unilaterally decide to unmake it. Just let the CfD play its course, and if you decide you also want it to be deleted, weigh in on the discussion. Other editors may come to a consensus to take a different course of action.
