Information icon Hello, I'm Gurkubondinn. An edit that you recently made to Combined arms seemed to be generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology). Text produced by these applications is not allowed on Wikipedia, and may contain factually inaccurate statements, fictitious citations, or other problems. You should instead read reliable sources and then summarize those in your own words. Your edit may have been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or ask your questions at the Teahouse, a friendly place for new users. Information icon Please refrain from making edits generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology) to Wikipedia pages, such as those you made to Combined arms, as LLM-generated content is prohibited on Wikipedia. Your edits have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Thank you. SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 21:37, 14 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Good afternoon. I got a PhD in Conflict Anthropology and I study guerilla warfare, counterinsurgency since 25 years. I started editing in the German Wikipedia more than 20 years ago and edited for some years, mainly pages about diurnal butterflies, which were non-existent at that time, but my account was lost and I had no time to restart. I published in english journals and I read 90% of my texts in english, but I am not a native speaker. Therefore, I tend to use AI to check my text for grammar errors and style. I wrote a chapter entirely on my own, but due to a bug in the editor, my changes were lost, two hours of work gone. Therefore I rewrote from scraps using AI. I checked the sources before my second edit and I apologize for broken links in the first edit, which you rightfully deleted. However, The article is an eclectic, lopsided ruin, therefore I considered my changes were still a vast improvement. I am aware, AI or LLM are faulty and pose huge problems and I will then refrain from any further use.
However, my edit of the chapter Cold War was entirely written without AI. And yet it is considered a LLM-Text. It was meant as a basic introduction of structural changes in Cold war military and a summary of most common knowledge, which to my knowledge does not need "sources" other than links to the keywords, e.g. "Stealth". I would be glad, if my edit could be restored and I could work on it to improve the article. Vorbewusstes (talk) 06:06, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Each fact or claim in an article must be attributable to reliable, published sources. Please see our policies on verifiability and reliable sourcing.SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 06:23, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I can only start implementing sources like Kilcullen, Lister, etc. once I can be sure, that the work is accepted. Vorbewusstes (talk) 09:24, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Are you planning on writing it yourself and in your own words? LLM-generated additions will be reverted, and may lead to you being blocked because this is a huge timesink for other volunteer editors. If you write it yourself and it is sourced correctly, then it will be "accepted". You should make smaller and incremental edits that show you work, not one big giant edit. If you are from academia like you say, this should be natural to you. gurkubondinn 09:32, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
That does not matter. You are not allowed to submit AI-generated text, full stop. Please read the WP:NOLLM guideline. gurkubondinn 08:05, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
"Editors are permitted to use LLMs to suggest basic copyedits to their own writing, and to incorporate some of them after human review, provided the LLM does not introduce content of its own."
As I explained, I didn't use it at all in the cold war-chapter but still you deleted my second edit. Vorbewusstes (talk) 09:19, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Two things;
  1. The word suggest does a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. You are not allowed to copy chatbot output and paste it into Wikipedia, you are only allowed to ask it to suggest these these things to you, but you must write the changes yourself.
  2. The term "basic copyediting" has a meaning. This is stuff like punctuation. Anything that can amount to "contents" or prose is strictly disallowed.
Your edits were reverted because it was obvious that you did not write them yourself. You also added unsourced text. gurkubondinn 09:27, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Combined arms, you may be blocked from editing. In addition to being completely unsourced, it appears that the content was also LLM-generated. If you remain unresponsive to requests to stop you may be blocked from editing.
