VIX/ inaccurately called the "fear index".

VIX is not a measure of "fear": there is no such thing as a measure of fear, except perhaps elevated heart rate.

Mathematically, the VIX computation measures the spread of option prices, thus uncertainty. You can find dozens of articles confirming this statement. Thank you.

The reason I changed is because your edit resulted in it showing Dan Neil's loan ending in the box on the right, but still contracted to Sunderland. But in the first line on his page, it says he is a player for Ipswich. There was therefore a discrepancy. Telfordbuck (talk) 20:49, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
