Hi Seawolf35, Thanks again for your COI guidance. I followed your suggestion and filed a fully sourced edit request on Talk:MiRTarBase (covering infobox updates, lead statistics, external link cleanup, and NAR database-issue references from 2011–2025). Since the edit-request backlog appears high, I also left brief notices at WikiProject Molecular Biology and WikiProject Computational Biology to invite review/implementation. If you have any additional recommendations on the best venue or template to make this easier for editors to pick up, I’d appreciate it. Thanks! OrientC (talk) 02:25, 2 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

@OrientC The backlog for COI edit requests is very high as of the moment. The only thing to do is wait for now, an editor will get to it at some point. --Seawolf35 T--C 03:53, 2 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

January–February 2026 NPP drive - Phase 2

edit
NPP unreviewed article statistics as of February 02, 2026

Welcome to Phase 2 of the January–February 2026 NPP drive. During Phase 1, we reviewed 16,658 articles and 4,416 redirects, and there is currently a backlog of 16,475 articles and 23,782 redirects in the queue. Fantastic job! Completing 22,502 patrols in the first phase made a significant dent in the backlog. Let's keep our foot on the gas for Phase 2, and I hope we can achieve even more reviews than Phase 1. Best of luck!

Question from GhostyEm (12:36, 29 January 2026)

edit

Just saying hello! I am spending some time getting to grips with this, as think it will be something interesting to dip in and out of as a hobby. I work with words, so that will be fine, it is the techy bits that is a whole new world! --GhostyEm (talk) 12:36, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

@GhostyEm Hello! If you ever have any questions feel free to ask! --Seawolf35 T--C 13:22, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
I am attempting my first article... If I am citing a source that has already appeared earlier in the article, how do I stop it creating a fresh number please? And also when I submit for review, how do I change the title so it doesn't still just show as my sandbox? thanks! GhostyEm (talk) 13:14, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
@GhostyEm In order to submit it for review, click the submit button at the top of the draft. I have moved your sandbox to the draft namespace. In order to reuse a reference, there should be a “reuse” button under the cite tab in the editor. --Seawolf35 T--C 15:51, 3 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from MolecuLens (13:35, 4 February 2026)

edit

Hello, are AI tools allowed for create and editing new wiki pages? --MolecuLens (talk) 13:35, 4 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

@MolecuLens: That is kind of a complicated subject here on Wikipedia. As of right now, it is prohibited to use LLMs to create new articles from scratch. That is due to LLMs having numerous problems such as hallucinations when asked to write content for Wikipedia. Just using them for typo correction/copy editing could be fine but I you need to carefully double check their output. I personally would advise against using LLMs/AI for Wikipedia editing. --Seawolf35 T--C 18:50, 4 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Creamypeanutbutterman (03:40, 6 February 2026)

edit

How can I improve the chance for my draft to be nominated for creation? I did read WP:NYOUTUBER before I started the draft because I was aware that articles about youtubers mostly get deleted, and as far as I am aware, I did everything correctly. Creamypeanutbutterman (talk) 03:40, 6 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Creamypeanutbutterman Your draft was declined because it does not show that the subject meets the criteria for inclusion in Wikipedia, for more information on what it takes for a person to be worthy of inclusion see this page. In order to show that the subject meets the inclusion criteria, your draft needs to have multiple citations to reliable sources that are independent of the subject, and that show significant coverage of it. Right now in your draft I count 6 citations, one back to his own YouTube channel and 5 other YouTube citations, those are not suitable. The link to the "Bad Ideas Merch" store is just spam, and the citation to the Steam listing does nothing to establish notability. --Seawolf35 T--C 04:03, 6 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Seawolf35 Note my recent comment on the draft. This draft was created as part of a publicity push by the article's subject, so there's an element of COI here. grapesurgeon (talk) 04:05, 6 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Grapesurgeon Noted, thanks. I didn't look back at the draft to answer the question as I already kind of anticipated getting asked about it. I can't say I've ever seen the "write about me so I can write about myself" approach before. --Seawolf35 T--C 04:19, 6 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Account creator granted

edit

After reviewing your request for the "accountcreator" permission, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:

  • The account creator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
  • The account creator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the account creator right will result in its removal by an administrator.

If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the account creator right. Happy editing! – robertsky (talk) 17:13, 6 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

@SophieBarraclough89 Your draft may have references on it but it is unambiguously promotional. Wikipedia is not for advertising. --Seawolf35 T--C 16:40, 12 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'm just wondering what I need to do differently versus other companies on wikipedia. Such as RL 360 and Canada Life? As I don't believe what I wrote was dissimilar. I added our Fitch Ratings, which is an external source. Adding our history and acquisitions. External sources. Awards, all external sources and then put a short introduction about who we are and where were a headquartered. Some advice would be greatly appreciated ~2026-97170-7 (talk) 08:52, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
@SophieBarraclough89 @~2026-97170-7 - Regarding the comparison to other companies, please read WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. In short, the references on the draft should show that the company meets the notability guidelines for corporations/companies. In the article the company should be described neutrally and without promotional language. --Seawolf35 T--C 15:51, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Davis Corners (19:06, 18 February 2026)

edit

Hello, Thank you for being my mentor. I want to set up a page for a deceased artist friend, Frances Rhea Basch, who lived in Woodstock, New York. She was a student of Alnold Blanch and took classes with him at the Woodstock School of Art in the 1960s. She was also a student at the Arts Students League. She was also the granddaughter of Nathan Handwerker of Nathan's Famous Franks. Is this enough of a history for Wikipedia to accept this entry? I do not have a website set up for her yet. --Davis Corners (talk) 19:06, 18 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Davis Corners Welcome to Wikipedia. As you put it now, I do not believe that the person will be notable enough to meet the criteria for inclusion. --Seawolf35 T--C 19:12, 18 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for getting back to me. What information would be needed for her to be more notable? Davis Corners (talk) 19:15, 18 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Davis Corners The answer is complicated, but in short she would need to be the subject of significant coverage in multiple independent, reliable sources, such as news articles, journals, books, etc. --Seawolf35 T--C 19:16, 18 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Title: Donabagatta Tadasa: A 300-Year-Old Spiritual and Historical Heritage Overview: Donabagatta Tadasa is a historical village located in the Bhadravathi taluk of Shivamogga district, Karnataka. Known for its deep-rooted Sufi traditions and the Mahdavi community, the village has a rich history dating back over three centuries. History & Foundation: The village was founded approximately 300 years ago by Hazrat Bandagi Syed Ashraf Sahab. It was a flourishing settlement during the era of Tipu Sultan (late 18th century). Question from Coejonathan (12:39, 22 February 2026)

edit
Note: Coejonathan's mentor Alpha3031 is away.

Hi Seawolf -- Do you mind helping me on this point I am finding tricky. I am working on revising and expanding William Chappell (dancer) - https://w.wiki/HiFt. The page is short of pictures. I obtained permission to publish a picture from the copyright owner but I was unsure as how correctly post it. You can see from the edit history that it has now been deleted. My questions: 1: What does 'No ticket permission since 21 January 2026' mean? 2: How do I correct this in the proper way? - for example, I think this image is fair use, it is a low res copy taken from a book, I have contacted the owner of the original and he has given permission for this use on Wikipedia.

My thanks -- Jonathan --Coejonathan (talk) 12:39, 22 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Coejonathan Hi! I looked at your edits on Commons and I found the deleted file (link). If you have permission from the author, have them send the permission to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org using an email generated from this page. --Seawolf35 T--C 16:03, 23 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
many thanks..but what does 'no ticket mean ' and if I want to use the 'fair use template' will I find this under Templates? And an I right in thinking a bit did the deletion? Coejonathan (talk) 16:10, 23 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Coejonathan "No ticket" means that no release of rights was received by Commons for the use of that file. When files are uploaded without permission, there is usually a 30 day period for permission to be sent and verified or the file will be deleted. If you want to use the fair use template, they are at Category:Wikipedia non-free file copyright templates, there is a big listing but you should be able to find the one that suits your exact use case. If you use the fair use templates please upload the image locally on Wikipedia using this page. --Seawolf35 T--C 16:15, 23 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
