Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Google Optimize. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Apparition11 Talk/Contribs 10:04, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message. I genuinely wasn't aware of the "nofollow" policy or that adding such links might be considered promotional. My intention was never to advertise or promote anything — I was simply trying to contribute helpful, relevant information to the article, as I’ve seen others do with similar links.
- What’s especially disappointing is that while my links were removed, many similar ones remain intact, which feels unfair and inconsistent. I tried to follow the pattern I saw elsewhere, using external links only as references to support or expand on content — not for promotion or personal gain. I'm not affiliated with any of the linked sources and added them solely for informational value.
- I respect Wikipedia’s policies and am willing to discuss any concerns, but I would appreciate consistent enforcement across all contributions RabeccaBerth (talk) 14:14, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- I can't share screenshots here, otherwise I would have clearly shown where links similar to mine — or even more direct — are still live and haven’t been removed. Why is that the case? RabeccaBerth (talk) 14:17, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- Company blogs are not reliable sources or appropriate external links. With the constant influx of "new" editors trying to add them, there is no doubt that some get missed. If you happen upon any, feel free to fix the problem by removing them. Apparition11 Talk/Contribs 14:22, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

- There is a name in this link called "Book Publish Hub" which is clearly a direct link, Someone added as a form of branding or promotion. You haven’t removed it. I added my link after seeing examples like this. Check it yourself. RabeccaBerth (talk) 21:40, 28 July 2025 (UTC)
- I am under no illusions that there aren't many inappropriate links in the thousands of articles that I watch (or like that one that I've only edited once). We remove them as we notice them. You are more than welcome to remove any inappropriate links that you stumble across. Apparition11 Talk/Contribs 22:25, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did at List of English-language book publishing companies, you may be blocked from editing. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you insert a spam link, as you did at List of self-publishing companies. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines.
