Username issue - please choose new username

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "QuartzHarbor", may not comply with our username policy. You may not use a username that represents the name of an organization, product, or service, such as "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not your role, such as "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Wikipedia prohibits accounts shared by multiple people and you may not advocate for or promote any topic regardless of your username. Please read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia neutrally, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Hi ERcheck, thank you for messaging me about this. I had no idea. I've requested a name change to something more generic. Thanks, QuartzHarbor (talk) 13:38, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
@QuartzHarbor- Thanks. What username did you choose? ERcheck (talk) 16:04, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I followed the link and completed the steps. My selected user name is Quartz2913. QuartzHarbor (talk) 17:26, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Noting I rejected the rename request (actually I accidentally accepted it and then reversed it). Your username needs to represent you as an individual and not imply shared use. See for more info. If you wish for the username to contain the name or abbreviation of the organization, the closest you can come is a username in the format JohnAtCompany or JaneAtABC. Mfield and ERcheck, I apologize for the confusion here and would like to sort it out. I have no affiliation with QuartzHarbor, the company, and my username choice was completely random. I disclosed my COI at Talk:Stonepeak. Happy to change to a different username, such as Sol2913, but Quartz2913 has no association with the company I work for. Thanks. OK, thanks, I have renamed your account accordingly. Mfield (Oi!) 16:21, 14 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
