Reliable sources needed
editHi MoeyElan, please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's core policies, particularly Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research. This applies equally to images that make factual claims, such as historical maps and flags. Maps that are not based on reliable sources or that are based on your own research are not helpful to Wikipedia. (You may have noticed plenty of unsourced maps in Wiki Commons, but that is because the purpose of Wiki Commons is different and it therefore does not place many restrictions on user uploads.) Thanks, R Prazeres (talk) 15:18, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, I’m not sure with Wikipedia’s policy, am I able to source current Wikimedia maps? Or is that plagiarism? I made the Barbary States map with the intention to add the Regency of Tripolitania which seems to be omitted from the common map. MoeyElan (talk) 17:07, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- If you mean re-use existing images in Commons, then yes, you can do that, you just have to provide attribution in the "source" parameter. (Unless you're copying an image that is in the public domain, in which case it doesn't matter, but most files are not.) To simplify that task, you can also use the "Derived from" template here. (You can see an example of how it can looks like here, among other examples.) You can also use the "description" parameter to describe any references you used, if easier.
- If you want to make another version of the general map (assuming you mean this one), then you can find the original scholarly reference here, where the Regency of Tripoli is also shown in full. I hope that helps. R Prazeres (talk) 17:17, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- No I mean I create my own map but effectively merge 2 maps by using the borders of each map (in this case the 3 Barbary states map and the regency of Tripolitania map). Do I just have to referenced the two maps that were already on commons? MoeyElan (talk) 17:44, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- Yes you could, and indeed you would indicate both maps as part of the source. The template I linked above even lets you list more than one source (e.g. you would add, using the relevant file names:
{{Derived from |1=file #1 |2=file #2 }}
). It would also help to mention or copy the original references for both maps. R Prazeres (talk) 20:31, 12 February 2026 (UTC)- Sweet, thank you very much. MoeyElan (talk) 22:50, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

Asad (2026 film) moved to draftspace
editThanks for your contributions to Asad (2026 film). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. BOVINEBOY2008 20:42, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hey, sorry I’m new to this Wikipedia thing. How much sources does an article need to have?
- Thank you. MoeyElan (talk) 01:53, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
