Thank you

edit

Thank you for protecting the article Saqaliba from vandalizm. The vandal has returned. They are basically erazing the article and removing several pages of well references information. The editor appear to have an agenda to censure the article in order to present their preferred viewpoint. I do not have the time tu truly engage in the issue, but it is important that the article be protected. I have warned the user, but perhaps the article should be protected from further vandalizm and the user be blocked for vandalizm. They show clear bias. Aciram (talk) 02:00, 9 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Asked for protection.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 20:23, 10 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I feel I must add a warning. I see that User: M. Bitton now participate in the discussion on the talk page. This user has a history of questioning all content which adresses the issue of slavery within Islamic context (talk page of slavery in al-Andalus), and has on one occasion defended sexual slavery within an Islamic context as something beneficial to the victim. This make me concerned for the NPOW of the article.
I wish I could participate in the discussion, but I do not participate in debates which includes this user. I suffer from anxiety: one one occasion, this user continued to post repeatedly on my personal talk page after a conflict, despite being informed that I wished to end the discussion since it caused a panic attack. Because of this, I do not trust the good will of M. Bitton. I am saying this to explain why I can not participate in the debate further than my single post to the other user prior. But the fact that the article has attracted the attention of this user does make me concerned. --Aciram (talk) 23:46, 10 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thompson merger

edit

Hello. I went ahead and closed the merge discussion and performed the merge myself to help out, hope that's alright. I did my best following merge instructions to keep relevant info while leaving out a little bit that was unsourced. Feel free to make improvements and adjustments as necessary, thank you. --2605:8D80:6C29:568E:602F:E49C:B22A:4D58 (talk) 19:57, 15 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Southern Slavs Study

edit

G’day Miki. I noticed you originally added the 2018 Slovenian study here to the Southern Slavs article stating:

“In the 2018 analysis of Slovenian population, the Slovenian population clustered with Croatians, Hungarians and was close to Czech.”.

Another user recently changed it to

“In a 2018 genetic study, Slovenians were grouped within a Central-Eastern European cluster together with Hungarians, Czechs, and some individuals from Croatia, consistent with a broader European genetic continuum.”

However looking at the study, the new version seems to look at only a single aspect compared to the PCA and other measurements seeming less generally descriptive than the last. Is this more accurate? I may be misunderstanding the study findings. Cheers! OyMosby (talk) 16:19, 24 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

@OyMosby: in the study can be found, quote, The first two PCs explained ∼16% of the variance with Slovenian samples grouping together with the Croatians, Hungarians and close to the Czechs ... All Slovenian samples group together with Hungarians, Czechs, and some Croatians (“Central-Eastern European” cluster) as also suggested by the PCA ... Analysis of the UPGMA tree based on the Fst matrix shows all Slovenian individuals clustering together with Hungarians, Czechs, Croatians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians ... Pattern of runs of homozygosity computed on the Slovenian population does not differ significantly from Hungarians, Czechs, Croatians ... Slovenian samples show an admixture pattern similar to the neighboring populations such as Croatians and Hungarians, so indeed there are different methods used here, but the South Slavs paragraph is dealing with admixture, and when looking at related texts (All Slovenian samples group together with Hungarians, Czechs, and some Croatians (“Central-Eastern European” cluster) as also suggested by the PCA ... Slovenian samples show an admixture pattern similar to the neighboring populations such as Croatians and Hungarians) and Figure 3. itself (visually are evidently more similar to Croatians and Hungarians than Czechs), can be claimed both, but best would be that the "the Slovenian population showed an adxmiture pattern similar to the Croats, Hungarians and Czechs". --Miki Filigranski (talk) 23:39, 24 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Gotcha, I’ll revert them then as their version ignored all the other methods placing them more similarly. Thanks! OyMosby (talk) 01:28, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
