Information icon Hello, I'm Cadddr. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the main body of Iain Rankin. Generally, any relevant external links should be listed in an "External links" section at the end of the article and meet the external links guidelines. Links within the body of an article should be internal wikilinks. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. As mentioned above, please don't add links to other websites within the body of an article. Relevant links should go in the "External links" section at the end of the article. Joyous! Noise! 02:29, 26 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

To clarify, the link you're adding is already in the "references" section. The footnote in the article points to it. No one is trying to remove the information, but it's Wikipedia policy that external links don't belong in the article itself. Joyous! Noise! 02:38, 26 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Hello, I'm Realtent. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Donald Angus Beaton have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Hi there. I am in the process of adding citations to the original submission. The original death year was incorrect. It is July 1982. If you can possibly revert it back to what I have written I would like to fix these issues. I realized the use of the word legendary should likely be removed and a couple of other small language tweaks if you are open to seeing the changes. Thanks. There is a citation for the discography from Cape Breton University’s The Beaton Institute digital archive for the album that was added “A Musical Legacy”. The addition of descendants is also important to add, given the subject matter. Hoping you will work with me on this to get this right. If not possible to revert, please provide which pieces are problematic so the new information can be included as it has been sourced. Thanks! MediaChex (talk) 03:35, 27 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
For clarity, the information is not for advertisement purposes - it is for historical purposes only. MediaChex (talk) 03:37, 27 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have revised the article to include your content. However, I have removed many of the descendants that do not have pages because I believe they do not fall under Wikipedia:Notability. Please tell me what you think Realtent (talk) 03:47, 27 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for taking a look at this - I really appreciate the revisions.
That approach makes sense regarding notability and avoiding an overly genealogical list. My intent was to reflect the scope of musical activity within the family while keeping it aligned with reliable sources (particularly the Smithsonian Folkways liner notes).
I’m comfortable focusing on the individuals already included, especially where they have independent recognition or coverage. If helpful, I can continue refining the section to keep it concise and well-sourced.
Please let me know if you think any further adjustments would improve alignment with notability guidelines. MediaChex (talk) 05:02, 27 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
