Destubathon runs until the 16th of July
editHi, just a courtesy message to notify you in case you haven't seen the Wikipedia:The World Destubathon contest update in the last few days that we've decided to run the full month until the 16th of July. For those who have been too busy to contribute, we would love some help in reaching 4000 articles by Wednesday night! At present we're about 480 articles short!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:43, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message
editHello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:33, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
Thank you and assistance requested
editThank you for your message about bare URL.
Citations are very important in Wikipedia. It is better to put a bare URL than no citation at all. However, I see your point about putting a citation in better form.
Can you show me how to add a citation in the better form? It is very difficult to remember how to key in all the stuff, just like it's hard to create a table from scratch. Let us the following example. What do I do next?
Example: Canada is a country in the Northern Hemisphere.
What do I do next? Usually, I would key in < r e f ..... after the words Northern Hemisphere but that is a bare URL.

- @Vanguard10 Sure! In your editing toolbar, there's a RefToolbar with a dropdown of templates including cite web (see here). Most of the time, you simply provide the URL in the template dialog and autofill the information. It'll generate a
<ref>...</ref>for you. This is the fastest and easiest method in my opinion, although you may need to adjust the information if it's incorrect (like I did here). Limmidy (talk) 18:12, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
You are invited to participate in the Destubathon of the Americas, a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to £2000 ($2680) in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:12, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
