- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
Happy editing! Cheers, Devokewater 09:09, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Branković dynasty when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance.

editHi Kontributor 2K, I noticed that you Undid revision 1350831670 by ET80N (myself)
The reasons are unclear to me, please explain here details, thanks ET80N (talk) 09:59, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
- @ET80N, the reason is unclear why you do replace the file, is there any overall benefit in the global action? --Kontributor 2K 10:05, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Kontributor 2K, I added a coat of arms that was deleted in a page and on another page replaced the old coat of arms with a better edit. I'm new to Wikipedia and was wondering if there's any specific rule regarding the coat-of-arms updates since I edit/create own work and would like to update other pages as well ? Thks ET80N (talk) 11:20, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
- @ET80N, first, the best would be to make svgs only, as there are already many and many raster versions around; then, a true benefit would be to add to the files' pages the references supporting the blazons, since another problem is that there are many files recreations that rely solely on existing files, i.e. made without any prior verification, which often leads to errors spreading.
- After, the files should be properly categorised on commons, the better they are categorised, the more visible they will be.
- There are other details to consider, such as the tincture palettes and the licences.
- Incidentally, the preliminary analysis of existing categories and files allows for a more accurate assessment of whether it is appropriate to upload a specific CoA file, the goal not being to make the whole thing infinitely heavier. --Kontributor 2K 11:42, 3 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for your advises, I'll try to categorize my files on Commons and use svgs only.
- Regarding the coat of arms reference, nothing really new or unrealistic, I just contribute by improving poor existing quality of blazons (with known heraldic) often created by others more than 15 years ago with older graphic tools. I'll look for references and add.
- I look forward for any other Blazon expert here on Wikipedia to freely comment on my work, if any mistake or detail is missing.
- Generally I post work that has been double-x-checked on several genealogy sites / other Wikipedia pages for accuracy.
- I've been studying French/Norman Heraldic since years, often the French wikipedia pages version offer a great reference, not sure if that can be used as reference ?
- Best, ET80N (talk) 03:51, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
Cordialement, --Kontributor 2K 07:45, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
