Hello Bobby,

I was advised not to use my real name as user name, however JR are my initials (Jano Rosebiani). Can I change it to just my initials without (film works)? JRFilmworks (talk) 18:23, 13 July 2026 (UTC)

With regard to using your real name, that is often for privacy concerns, so less of a concern if you are divulging it as a part of your EDITCOI request. That said, if you are claiming to be a notable person (which you are, seeing as there's an article about you) the alternative is to change to your real name; you will need to prove that you are who you say you are. You can do this by sending an email to info-enwikimedia.org. And then only use this account for the purpose of requesting edits about yourself. It seems complicated to change the user name. I suppose it's best to just start a new account with a qualified user name. That is unless you can guide me how to change the existing one.

The two easiest ways are:

• completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, this will take a moment to process
• just create new account using the signup tool and use that account moving forward
