Hi Iffy! First of all, I just wanted to say hi to you as my assigned mentor. Secondly, I wanted to get your opinion on this article: Ross Lara. I was given it as a random article to practice editing but noticed that it has a lot of peacock claims (which I tried to tone down) and actually there aren’t a lot of sources out there to support the main body of the article. All references are just used for discography. I’m not sure what’s best to do, whether it’s actually possible to improve it or it needs to be nominated for deletion. What would you do? --Folklorin (talk) 10:46, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! I don't have the time to do a full source review, especially for someone whose expertise is in an area I am not that familiar with, but if you cannot find sources that show that this person is notable, then nominating for deletion (instead of making further improvements) is an acceptable solution. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion is the primary method used to propose that an article be deleted, where other users can give their feedback and a consensus can be established. Hi! I wanted to get your advice. I am updating data on T visa article but primary data for each year is stored in separate pdf files. Do I need to reference them individually (as I've done) or is there a more elegant way? --Folklorin (talk) 22:08, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! I think the way you're currently referencing the data is fine, unless you can find a source that summarises the data across multiple years, as the table we have here does. One thing I noticed is that the table currently doesn't have data for the T-6 category. Even though this data is available in the sources, you could add a new column so that someone can add that data to the table, even if you can't find that data for all the years. Iffy★Chat -- 10:14, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi! Thank you, that’s very helpful! Yes, T-6 category wasn’t originally mentioned in the article but haven’t got around to adding it to the table yet. Folklorin (talk) 14:12, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
Question from GracefulFern3145 (16:39, 4 February 2026)
editHello,
What are the rules on Wikipedia article plagiarism? I'm trying to edit the Actinides in the environment article, and the section for protactinium is short and unsourced, so I'm:
1. Looking at the "Occurrence" section in the original protactinium article to have information to base my writings off of, and: 2. Trying to find reliable sources about this topic (though I'm mainly going to focus on this later)
I'm asking about plagiarism because I'm pretty sure it's not allowed to just copy-paste occurrence information from the protactinium article, even if I linked the article with a header. Not that I intend to do that, but the occurrence section has some sourced and seemingly reliable information on how/where protactinium is found on Earth, so I was looking at it to maybe add some information from that article into the protactinium section in actinides in the environment.
As for the verifying sources, I read the article about verifying sources and other information, admittedly not terribly in depth, but I think I understand enough to start somewhere. I'll probably reread it, but I'm busy right now, so I'll have to save that for later. I'm going to do my work as I wait for a response.
Thank you in advance!

I was thinking of making certain niche articles available in more languages (I speak several). Do I have to indicate new sources or can I reuse the same. E.g. if the original article is in Norwegian (with sources in Norwegian), can I translate it to German and still use the Norwegian-language sources? --Fabolosmi (talk) 15:03, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! On the English Wikipedia, while English language sources are preferred as these are easier for English language speakers to verify the contents of, there are no language restrictions on the sources you use, so you are free to use sources from any language when translating an article for this Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:Verifiability#Non-English sources for more information. Other language Wikipedias operate independently and may have different policies; you should check each language Wikipedia's policies before translating into other Wikipedias. Hi Iffy, I'm interested in contributing to Wikipedia's masonry-related articles, and I'm trying to think strategically about how to add real value for readers rather than just filling in gaps. The challenge I see is balancing technical depth with accessibility—many masonry articles either oversimplify construction techniques or get buried in jargon that most readers won't follow. A few things I'm wondering about: How do you approach sourcing for articles that are niche but still important? And when you're editing in a specialized area, how do you decide what level of detail serves the typical Wikipedia reader best, versus what might belong in a more technical resource? I want to make sure I'm not just expanding articles for the sake of it. Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks, Cristian --2o26 (talk) 15:11, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! It is always difficult to find the right balance between accessible content and technically accurate content. Wikipedia has a Manual of Style which you may find helpful, particularly the MOS:JARGON section. You can also look at how other articles handle similar situations, or you could seek advice from WikiProjects such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Architecture. Iffy★Chat -- 16:36, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
Hello Iffy, I am editing a Norwegian artist's Wikipedia in Norwegian and would like to make an English one as well. Should I edit the Norwegian one first and then translate it into English? Also, I help manage the artists website and have a COI regarding the editing. I am mainly adding exhibitions and dates and images. Is this ok? --BenteNIls (talk) 01:41, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! I don't know what the rules are for COI editors on the Norwegian Wikipedia, so I can't help you there. If you are considering translating the article for the English Wikipedia, I strongly recommend that you do so by creating a draft page and using the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process, so that independent editors can review whether the subject of the article and the article's content meet this Wikipedia's guidelines. As for exhibitions, dates and images, I would focus more on what reliable sources say about the subject's work rather than trying to create a gallery or a comprehensive listing of the subject's works. Images also need to either be freely licensed (and therefore can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons) or qualify as Fair use. Iffy★Chat -- 08:39, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
I have a quick question that’s been on my mind while editing
How do you handle situations where reliable sources themselves seem biased or one-sided? Do you just reflect them as they are, or try to balance things beyond what’s explicitly written?
I’d really value your perspective on this --Zerofox7 (talk) 14:54, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Every source has some kind of bias, and it can be difficult to find the right way to handle these biases as Wikipedia is both meant to be written from a neutral point of view and using reliable sources. Two importat points to consider are that
[E]ditors should consider whether the source meets the normal requirements for reliable sources, such as editorial control, a reputation for fact-checking, and the level of independence from the topic the source is covering
andA neutral point of view should be achieved by balancing the bias in sources based on the weight of the opinion in reliable sources and not by excluding sources that do not conform to the editor's point of view
. Don't use unreliable sources to create a false balance. Iffy★Chat -- 17:50, 27 March 2026 (UTC)

editHello, I just wanted to change the title from Shivaji to Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. --Pratikbhosale91 (talk) 09:47, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! I see on the talk page of this article (Talk:Shivaji), that this matter has been discussed before, as it says on that page:
As per WP:Honorifics and WP:Commonname, in Wikipedia, we refer to people by their commonly used name in the cited academic sources. We do not include titles or Honorifics unless they are commonly used in the cited sources (Shivaji does not fall in this category). Please note Charles III, where he is referred to as "Charles" throughout, not "King Charles" nor "His Royal Highness" or whatnot. We clearly note Shivaji's titles in the article, we just don't repeat them each time his name is written
. Feel free to suggest other possible improvements to the article on the talk page, or you can look for other articles to improve. Iffy★Chat -- 13:20, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

- Hello! Published books are some of the best sources you can use to support statements written on Wikipedia. {{cite book}} is the template you use to show that you have used a book as a reference. You do not need to quote the book's contents directly; the best practise is to paraphrase the book's content in your own words to write in an encyclopedic way about the subject of the article. Hi. I noticed an article that makes an unsourced claim flagged with "citation needed." It's my belief that there's not going to be any citation forthcoming because I think the contributor is citing comic book lore as fact about a religious/mythological topic.
Is there anything to be done with that? --It's shoe (talk) 17:02, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! If you think the statement in question cannot be cited to a reliable source, then you can simply remove the statement. Iffy★Chat -- 17:43, 6 May 2026 (UTC)

editHello. I wanna track down vandalized pages fast and revert them (mostly as attonement for my past vandalism). How do I do that? --Soothingrainhorse (talk) 21:59, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Most instances of vandalism are caught quickly by anti-vandalism bots, but if you want to look for bad edits that haven't been reverted yet, one place to look is at Special:RecentChanges. Iffy★Chat -- 23:44, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
Glow-wire test

Moved from User:Kingpotest/sandbox- Requested move: User:Kingpotest/sandbox → Glow-wire test
Rationale: This is a ready-to-publish article on the glow-wire test, a well-established fire testing method in electrical safety standards (IEC 60695-2-10~2-13). The content is written in neutral encyclopedic tone, properly structured, and sourced from official standards. No conflicts with existing articles.
Requester is not yet autoconfirmed. Please move to main namespace. Thank you.

Question from FloridaEtherdoc (15:16, 23 May 2026)
editHello, and thank you for the introduction. I am a long-time (40+ years) physician/clinician-scientist with over 220 peer-reviewed (PubMed-listed) research publications. For over 20 years, I have been working on developing a medical device, a neuromuscular monitor that helps clinicians assess the depth of neuromuscular block in patients during surgical procedures and during mechanical ventilation in critical care settings. I have a question, at your convenience: I would request inclusion in Wikipedia of a brief history of the development of the monitor and the company (Senzime AB) that is currently manufacturing the monitor. I am aware of the potential conflicts of interest, being the inventor of the monitor (see also my standard expanded declaration of COI listed below). Therefore, I would like some advice on how/who would be best to submit such a document for review. Thank you very much for your help and advice.
Declaration of COI: Dr. Brull has intellectual property assigned to Mayo Clinic; is a principal, shareholder and Chief Medical Officer in Senzime AB (Sweden); is an unpaid member of Scientific Advisory Boards for NMD Pharma (Denmark) and Takeda Pharmaceuticals (Japan); and is a Member of the Editorial Boards for the journals ANESTHESIOLOGY; Journal of Clinical Anesthesia; and Anaesthesia, Critical Care & Pain Medicine. --FloridaEtherdoc (talk) 15:16, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Thank you for declaring your conflicts of interest. You can either make edit requests explaining how you want existing articles to be improved, or if you want to create a new page, you can start drafting a page using the Article Wizard, where you can use the Wikipedia:Articles for creation process to have independent editors review your work. There is guidance at Help:Your first article on what you should and should not do when writing a new article. Iffy★Chat -- 16:31, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

editI submitted a page through sandbox of a new person. How will I know if it is accepted? How will I continue to add to it? --Drillkitty (talk) 17:33, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Your draft (currently located at User:Drillkitty/sandbox) has not yet been submitted for review. I have just added an {{afc draft}} template to the page. After reading the template and when you are ready, press the "Submit the draft for review!" button to start the process. You can continue to improve the draft at any point in time. Once a reviewer has made their determination, they will notify you on your user talk page (User talk:Drillkitty), and if the draft is not accepted, they will tell you why (this notification will also be placed on the draft itself). - This is too complicated. I just want to update an item. Tosca6 (talk) 02:41, 29 May 2026 (UTC)

Hello, mentor! I’m CakeFunky!
Once I become a confirmed/ auto confirmed user, I plan on adding images to Wikipedia which will be used on pages that I often edit. Though I am aware that there’s some important things to note on what images get used, what part of an article an image should be added to, and the copyright licensing, of which, all the images I upload, will be taken directly by me. Do you know the answer to those three questions?
• Which images should be featured in an article, • What part of the article those should be added to, • What copyright tag I add to it if I am the one who created/photographed the image?
Thanks for your time,
Sincerely
- CakeFunky. --CakeFunky (talk) 12:25, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Images should be added to Wikipedia articles if they improve the quality of the article. There is information on the best practises for image use and placement at Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Images. For images taken by yourself, you should upload these to Wikimedia Commons with a suitable license. Wikimedia Commons has an upload wizard that can help you with this. Question from NonBinaryProgrammer (16:13, 2 June 2026)
editHi! In the article Lists of metalloids#Appearance frequency clusters, there seems to be WP:SYNTH but I'm not certain how best to go about addressing it. Should I delete the section outright or just tag it, or something else? --NonBinaryProgrammer (talk) 16:13, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! You are free to tackle problems such as possible original research in the way you think is best for the particular situation. Ideally, you would find a source for the stated claim and add that to the article, but if you can't find a source, you could tag the page with the appropriate template, ask about the issue on the article's talk page, or you could remove the section altogether. Alternatively, you could seek expertise from a relevant WikiProject or the No Original Research Noticeboard. Iffy★Chat -- 16:27, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

Question from Rexory2007 (08:37, 9 June 2026)
editwhy can't I submit a question in a template's talkpage? --Rexory2007 (talk) 08:37, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Most template talkpages can be edited in the normal manner. On the top right of the talk page, press "add topic", and you can add your question that way. Alternatively, you could ask me the question using the mentoring feature, or you can ask at the Wikipedia:Teahouse. Iffy★Chat -- 08:51, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
- I wanted to submit a question on a template talkpage and it said there that it was semi-protected so I couldn't do so. How do I fix it? Rexory2007 (talk) 09:02, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
- Semi-protected pages can't be edited by newer users until they have made 10 edits and have had a Wikipedia account for a few days. Pages can be protected for a variety of reasons, usually to prevent disruption to the page in question. Iffy★Chat -- 09:11, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
