Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Statistics Canada templates

A tag has been placed on Category:Statistics Canada templates indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 04:44, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
Template categorization
I'm guess that the reason for this test edit was to get the page Template:Canadian census corrections to show up in Category:Statistics Canada templates. Because the categorization wikitext was put outside of the <noinclude>...</noinclude> tag, the test edit caused many articles to categorized into this template category.
Categorization of a template with a /doc subpage should be done on the /doc subpage according to template categorization guidelines.
After correctly putting categorization on a /doc page, one often needs to do a null edit of the template's page (in this case, Template:Canadian census corrections) for the template to appear on the category's listing of pages. A regular purge is only enough to see the category at the bottom of template's page, but a heavier null edit is needed for the linking to propagate to the category itself. —andrybak (talk) 22:15, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
User:Hwy43/Sandbox/List of communities in Alberta
I edited User:Hwy43/Sandbox/List of communities in Alberta because it was listed in Table tag that should be deleted lint errors. This can be caused by various things, table markup that opens a table but does not close it. As long as I was there:
- I used HTML5-compliant markup to align and color table cells per Wikipedia:HTML5#Table attributes
- I standardized
|accessdate=to|access-date=per Template:Cite web/doc#Usage - I changed a deprecated
²to2per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Superscripts and subscripts#General guidelines - I changed the deprecated
<br clear=all>to<div style="clear:both"></div>per per Wikipedia:HTML5#Other obsolete attributes.
I see after reverting my edit, you edited the page some more and it doesn't have any lint errors now (except for some unimportant lint errors that we don't care about) but the other errors I fixed are still there. Editors tend to come by and fix pages with lint errors, but chances are, nobody will bother with the other items. Cheers! —Anomalocaris (talk) 07:03, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- Ah, if lint errors had been mentioned in the edit summary, I wouldn't have been caught off guard. I've let edits like those through before. Hwy43 (talk) 00:38, 7 April 2026 (UTC)
Hello there! You are invited to participate in the Destubathon of the Americas, a contest/editathon which will run from May 1 to May 31. The goal is to destub as many of our 475,000+ stubs for the Americas (from Alaska down to Chile) as possible. A good chance to have fun in expanding many of our old stale stubs and win up to £2000 ($2680) in Amazon vouchers for expanding stub articles. Sign up in the Contestants/participants section on the contest page if interested. Even if not interested in prizes you are still warmly welcome to participate in it as an editathon! Hopefully we can achieve something significant in the month of May together! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:19, 22 April 2026 (UTC)
Sandbox
Just a reminder that if you want to transclude mainspace articles into sandbox pages for whatever reason, you have to wrap the transclusion in the {{suppress categories}} template — because if you don't do that, then the transclusion of the article also transcludes the article's category declarations, and thus puts your sandbox page into the categories in violation of WP:USERNOCAT. So you keep your sandbox page out of categories by wrapping the transclusions — i.e. {{suppress categories|{{:Whatever page title you're transcluding}}}} — so that the transcluded article's categories don't come along for the ride. - This was new to me. Thanks. Hwy43 (talk) 17:02, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
