Managing a conflict of interest
edit
Hello, Home817. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the Edit Request Wizard), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 19:22, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for your support. I have adhered to the policy to the best of my ability. I appreciated the feedback and direction. Home817 (talk) 14:05, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
- As explained in the message above, rather than editing directly any article in the subject of which you have a conflict of interest (COI), you should make edit requests via the article's talk page. The two exceptions to this rule are straightforward and non-contentious grammar etc. corrections, and reversion of obvious vandalism, neither of which accounts for this recent edit of yours: Special:Diff/1359602976. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:04, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
- FYI In case you haven't seen it already, they've reported the other editor to ANI - see here. They've asked for it to be reverted, which is confusing since that edit is them doing the reversion themselves. In solidarity, Blue-Sonnet (I'm listening) 07:38, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Home817: once again, please do not edit the Princess Karen Wright-Sori Brengettsy-Chatman article directly, on account of your COI. Inserting an image does not come under either of the allowed exceptions, and neither does removing a bona fide maintenance template without addressing the underlying issue or convincingly explaining why it is not needed. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:00, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks everyone for your assistance. I must say again, I am new to this and am following the guidlines to the best of my abilities and asked foe help in the beginning. Reposting "I do not have a personal relationship with the subject or the organization. I attended a lecture where the subject was speaking at the Stowe center and been following the history of Prince Abdulrahaman Ibrahima ibn Sori for 30 years and tracing his passage to emancipation as I have with other historical figures. I was being transparent about that only. Under Wikipedia guidelines that allows me to edit. Additionally, the photo presented is not AI it is a photo taken by the subject herself as she spoke of it in her lecture and her book. I also found it online https://totalprestigemagazine.com/her-royal-highness-princess-karen-of-the-house-of-sori-a-princess-of-the-people/. I seek your assistance in this matter as to not allow reputational harm to the subject with a BLP violations from an anonymous user who has made unsourced claims" Home817 (talk) 09:29, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Blue-Sonnet. An edit that you recently made to Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents seemed to be generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology). Text produced by these applications is not allowed on Wikipedia, and may contain factually inaccurate statements, fictitious citations, or other problems. You should instead read reliable sources and then summarize those in your own words. Your edit may have been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use your sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or ask your questions at the Teahouse, a friendly place for new users. Thanks.
