IPA

edit

I am trying to find an IPA translation of Aberdeen for the article Aberdeen about the city in Scotland. I saw that you understand it on your userpage and hoped you could help me? I have no idea where to start with it! Bobbacon 15:54, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for taking a look at this, I have added the tag pronounced /abɚdin/; to the Aberdeen article as from what I can see it would be the best translation. I think an English accent would be wrong as it is a Scottish city so I will go with the first suggestion.
For dialects, I think both Aberdonian and Doric would be correct but I am not sure which is more widely accepted. Although a small city there are distinct accents that sound quite different depending on which part of the city a person is from. Bobbacon 15:03, 19 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
