Speedy deletion nomination of Obagodo

edit

Hello Dolpina,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Obagodo for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Obagodo to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Vandalism alert

Response: Hello @Dolpina, You can’t come to my usertalk and use such headline to address this, I reverted in good faith the revision of Tagging Edo with Yoruba Ethic, If the main article of "Yoruba" was tagged initially, I won’t have reverted the edits, I don’t think you’re familiar with this things yet. It was tagged "Edo|Yoruba". Hope you understand. Chippla ✍️ - Best Regards 00:04, 12 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Here is the revision and the reason I said Edo isn’t Yoruba. Chippla ✍️ - Best Regards 00:11, 12 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've changed that. It just needed a link change. That was done by the vandal. Dolpina (talk) 06:15, 12 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Alright Dolpina (talk) 06:16, 12 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think the headline I used was fine. It was to inform you about the vandalism you were supposedly reverting too, in case you didn't know. Next time dont remove something factual to re-add what is written without proof by a non wiki user likely to troll. Just adjust what is needed, like in this case the link. Also same goes for sourced content over non sourced.
Glad for the chat. Best regards as well. Dolpina (talk) 06:23, 12 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

AI use on African braiding article?

On the African braiding article you created, did you use AI? I agree that it's important and valuable to discuss African history and traditions, but it reads as clearly AI-generated and that's against Wikipedia policy. LieutenantZipp (talk) 17:48, 18 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello, oh no. No I did not use AI for such. Maybe its a phrasing issue? Or did i get something wrong? Thanks for pointing it out, I'll look through the article maybe i put a line for grammar or something, but i dont recall doing that. Dolpina (talk) 13:40, 29 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Hello, I'm Kingsacrificer, and welcome to Wikipedia. I appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to TBJZL, it appears that you added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources.
You added the term 'Yoruba' to this article. The linked source does not mention Yoruba anywhere. This seems like it was original research. If you wish to include this information, you must provide a reliable source that states this.

Stop icon You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war, according to the reverts you've made to Somali cuisine. This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate with others, avoid editing disruptively, and try to reach a consensus – rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.

Important points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive behavior – regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not engage in edit warring – even if you believe that you are right.

You need to discuss the disagreement on the article's talk page and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked from editing.  Newslinger talk 17:59, 21 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Agbada wiki page manual reverts, looking for a neutral reviewer to help come to a conclusion.

edit

Hello Dolpina, i see you're revising my edits on the history of agbada. can we have a discussion on this? You reverted my edit, on the premise of "Reverting non good faith edits. Its giving sockpuppet.". I'm not a sockpuppet, and i think we can have a dialogue. i've invied a neutral, third party wiki mod so he can look at it and access both of our talking points.. Can we look at the history section ?

1.) I hold the premise that agbada draws influence from cloth originally warn from the sahel called Boubou (clothing) Boubou (clothing), babban rigan, in hausa, etc. matter fact, prior to last year before a Yoruba ethnic chauvanist, added "The Yoruba agbada is different and distinct from the babaringa and grand boubou." again i noticed something with these chauvanist, they continuously add sources that have nothing to do with wat they claim. no where in that book does it hint that agbada has no origin, or influence from boubou, or similar cloth, but they continuously insert sources that have nothing to do with their claims.

For exampe, again, the OLDEST unattested source of "agbada" that i'm aware of, was from the 1885 Manchester geographical society, that documents culture, cloth, and anthropolgy around the world. which they clearly said “We know that the Niger has been, and continues to be, the high road of Mohammedanism from North and East Africa. Its active pioneers and advance guard on Yoruba have been the Peuls or Fulanis, who have in the past overrun and subjected most of the country on the middle stream, and have so far suc-which, though divided tribally and dialectically, has a coman, national tongue and a recognised feudal head in the person of the Alatin of Oyo, who is on the best of terms with the government of Lagos-as are, indeed, all the Yoruba native states.”

“ In Yoruba the dress of an ordinary male Mohammedan consists of trousers, vest (togo), gown (agbada), cap and turban;”. This clearly signifies the Agbada, is am muslim gown, that was worn around the sahel, or areas with muslims. Here are just some of the "historical" section they put in agbada, that has nothing to do with the history of it, or even relevance to the topic matter. I would like to know why you keep reverting my edits, when its the oldest source, and the oldest source put on this whole page that directly mentions agbada?

> “It consists of a large, free-flowing outer robe (awosoke), an undervest (awotele), a pair of long trousers (sokoto), and a hat (fìla). “

This is an unrelated source on the history of agbada

> “The outer robe—from which the entire outfit derives the name  Agbada, meaning "voluminous attire"—is a big, loose-fitting, ankle-length garment. In which the centerpiece is usually covered front and back with an elaborated embroidery. “

Again this is unrelated

> “By 1772, the Agbada was recorded as a Yoruba-made cloth, showcasing the craftsmanship of the Yoruba weavers, particularly in the production of Aso-Oke, a hand-woven fabric used in its creation. “

Again this is unrelated, to the HISTORY of Agbada and no source.

> “During the height of the Oyo Empire circa 1772, which held sway over much of present-day southwestern Nigeria and beyond, the Agbada became more than a local garment. It was often gifted to neighboring rulers and elites, including the people of Dahomey (modern-day Benin), who were under the influence of the Oyo Empire at the time. This cultural exchange helped solidify the dominance of Yoruba fashion, art, and politics across the region.”

there is no source to signify that the clothing trade with dahomey was Agbada, if so can you provide me a source with evidence, or any direct terminology, we can know its the agbada?

> “The presentation of the Agbada to the Dahomey people under the Oyo Empire symbolized more than just fashion—it was a diplomatic gesture, emphasizing the power and reach of the Oyo Empire, as well as the integration of Yoruba cultural elements into the broader political landscape of West Africa.”

Again this has nothing to do with the history of the Agbada, and it has no sources.

> “Contrary to popular belief, the Agbada was not introduced or imported from the Sahel region. Historical records from as early as 1826 document that Yoruba-made Agbada was regarded as superior in quality and design compared to Sahelian garments. This distinction is important, as the Agbada, while sharing some broad similarities with the boubou in terms of flowing design, should not be confused with it. The Agbada represents a unique and intricate part of Yoruba heritage, standing apart in its sophistication, symbolism, and craftsmanship, demonstrating the advanced textile artistry of the Yoruba well before external influences reached the region.”

Again, this doesn’t mean the Agbada doesnt have a common source, or origin from the boubou. This seems like the person is just inserting random sources. The 1885 Manchester geographical society clearly hints at the agbada having a muslim influence which if from the sahel, and hypotheses is with the fulanis, who had the most contact with yorubas from the Sahel region.

Again the oldest source of "Agbada" i can find the manchester geographical society of. 1885 clearly says this, “We know that the Niger has been, and continues to be, the high road of Mohammedanism from North and East Africa.

“ In Yoruba the dress of an ordinary male Mohammedan consists of trousers, vest (togo), gown (agbada), cap and turban;”

I have no problem collaborating on this page, but i truly don't appreciate you just manually reverting my edits, i hope we can come to a conclusion, or maybe lock this page down for edits. Oluwafemi1726 (talk) 21:30, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Make your comments and claims on the talk page, don not blank edit sourced content. Reach a concensus first, and whatever you want can be added and fitted in, without removing sourced content that aligns already. Do not assume bad faith of people with no prove especially with your characterising of a user as an ethnic chauvinist due to what was in an article and nothing else. Reach a concensus first on the main article before you revert anything, it is obviously contested, so, you can try the talk page rather than an attempt at bruteforcing.
I made the comment that you are likely a sock and collaborating for a couple of reasons, including recent patterns of the edit warring vandalism going on in some pages and how you happened to be there either supporting on the "ichafu" deletion discussion or jumping in to the Agbada page after a vandal or two had gone by. Anyways, reach a concensus and middleground, the answer is likely in the middle. So follow the rules of engagement as listed in Wikipedia rules. Thanks. Dolpina (talk) 23:43, 23 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Again, saying i'm a sock account, when i've had this account, and my edit of agbada was in 2024, isn't an argument. Again, are you able to argue as to why you keep reverting my edits? And when its obvious the historial area of agbada jhas little to no sources, and all the "sources" have no context to the history of the agbada? Oluwafemi1726 (talk) 01:42, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
You were agreeing with a page full of LLM slop and original research fabrications which if you were not connected emotionally in some way to the topic and its agenda, I doubt you would have agreed it to be kept up. You can see how that looks. Anyways, that's beside the point, I'm not here to argue your intentions, we all know what we are doing. I have replied that you are free to put your dispute to the talk page for concensus than removing sources to be adjusted just to your narrative when it isn't a consensus. Dolpina (talk) 01:45, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
There is no "conensus", if you're not here to have a dialogue as to why, you're reverting my changes, when i've made clear reasons as to why i want mine, over the current page, this is a clear breach of WP:UCOC. Hopefully in speedy time we can have a neutral observer of this page, to see the level of :dialogue" we're dealing with here, unfortunately. Oluwafemi1726 (talk) 01:49, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Continuous Removal of Sourced Content From Igbo Cultural Pages

edit

I have noticed your incessant attacks on Igbo content across Wikipedia articles. The few that directly relate to my edits are Head tie, headscarf and Ogbono soup.

In all three articles, you removed content about Igbo culture that was backed by peer-reviewed academic publishers including Yale University Press and Elsevier. Specifically, on the headscarf article, you cited lack of citation in your edit summary as grounds for removing an obviously cited paragraph and an Igbo woman wearing an Ichafu isi, while adding a sentence about gele with ZERO(0) citation at all. This is literally a textbook violation of NPOV.

Your edit Diffs:

Headtie edit: (here)

Headscarf edit: (here)

Ogbono edit: (here)

Ogbono/Agbono is an Igbo word with a well cited etymology from academic sources including the Dictionary of Ònichà Igbo (Williamson, Ethiope Press. 1972, 2nd ed. Roger Blench, Cambridge, 2006), Yale University Press (Echeruo, 1998), and Elsevier's Forest Ecology and Management (1980). In fact, other names from other regions were added under this page in the etymology section. If there is enough notable content about similar seeds known by other names elsewhere in Nigeria, the appropriate response is to create a separate article, not remove sourced Igbo cultural article. No one goes around removing sourced content from a national dish like Egusi despite the article claiming roots in certain ethnic culinary tradition.

A similar complaint has been raised against you on your talk page regqrding Edo culture. This pattern of selectively removing sourced Igbo content while adding unsourced content about some other ethnic group is a direct violation of NPOV. It is NOT allowed on Wikipedia.

If this continues, I will raise this at the NPOV Noticeboard and ANI Noticeboard.
