Floyd is a member of Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) one of three Performance Rights Organizations the other two being ASCAP and SESAC (Full Disclosure I am also a music composer/writer and a member of BMI) these PROs issue licenses to allow businesses such as radio and television stations and bars and restaurants to play music and then the PROs administers the payout of residuals to music composers/writers from thoses licenses when their music is publicly broadcast or performed. In his repertoire catalog on the BMI Songview (See Here) he is registered as Floyd Vivino which is inline with ASCAP, BMI and SESAC rules which states that under the member agreement, an applicant for membership and later a member (If approved) MUST provide their full legal name and social security number to ASCAP, BMI and/or SESAC (A person can only belong to one PRO so its ASCAP, BMI and/or SESAC so one and not one and another) after which they can also include and AKAs i.e. Uncle Floyd etc... so you are correct Floyd is his legal name and to be honest in all the years that I've watched Floyd on TV, gone to one of his live performances whether it was a local theater or his now defunct restaurant in the Holiday Inn on Route 46 in Wayne, New Jersey I've NEVER heard him be referred to as Florio so I don't know where these people are getting their information and by the way his membership in BMI is automatically renewed every two years so his heirs will continue to receive residuals from his music recordings and past live performances even though he is now deceased. Thanks, Matt! You are correct.
When Floyd hosted his Italian-American Serenade, an Italian-language radio show, he did use the radio name "Florio" as a way to relate to the listeners. But his real name was always Floyd. It was never changed, either from Florio or to Florio. David Burd (talk) 10:12, 25 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
His obituary says he was Born Florio Vivino on October 19, 1951, in Paterson, New Jersey,.

"Uncle Floyd" Wikipedia article edit...

Hi David, just F.Y.I. I edited Floyd's article to remove Florio and add Floyd. I also added a link to the official obituary page on Legacy.com for Floyd which clearly states that his name is FLOYD not FLORIO so that should shut those a**holes up who keep changing the article. Cheers. Matt-Dimension-C136 (talk) 11:29, 26 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
