Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "GloucesterRugbyFoundation", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because is appears to represent the Gloucester Rugby Foundation.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. - This account is accessed by a member of staff from the Gloucester Rugby Foundation as part of our role of promoting the heritage and history of the club and ensuring that our history is represented accurately online. The account is linked to an official Gloucester Rugby e-mail address. GloucesterRugbyFoundation (talk) 16:13, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- You need to understand that this not allowed on Wikipedia. You cannot edit as a organisation (official or not) and you cannot edit to "promote the heritage and history of the club", because this gives you a conflict of interest.
- The only way you will be permitted to continue is if you follow this link to change your username, and follow the instructions here regarding your conflict of interest. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:21, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- OK - I have requested my name be changed to something that doesn't include the business name.
- Is it a conflict of interest then to update player information to make it accurate using the new username? The guide does not make it clear for this sort of situation. For example a random Wikipedia user had added that one of our retired players had played 386 games for the club. This is inaccurate, so I have updated it to the correct number. So can I continue to update this sort of information from an account name that doesn't link to the business? GloucesterRugbyFoundation (talk) 16:37, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- Per the guideline, you should declare your position on your page. Then just take care with your edits. If you are changing basic facts you shouldn't run into trouble. But think carefully if your edit could be considered biased or promotional. Most importantly, cite your changes. You will not be able to claim knowledge on the basis of who you claim to be. You need sources that verify your edits, regardless of who you are. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 17:14, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
Wikiproject Gloucestershire
editI noticed your contributions and thought you might be interested in joining WikiProject Gloucestershire, a group that aims to improve coverage and articles about Gloucestershire. Zxilef (talk) 02:39, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
- Happy to help if I can. So far I haven't ever created a page (not sure I know how to do that) but I have been editing pages that are relevant to Gloucester Rugby for accuracy. Sport would be the area where I have the most knowledge. Cheers DJohn73 (talk) 17:11, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
- That's great to hear! If you would like, I can add you to the list of active members on the project page.
- The project has been very unactive in recent years, so this could be seen as a revival effort. You may also want to read this. Zxilef (talk) 02:46, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
