Your edit to Jennifer Sinor
editHello. I noticed this edit of yours to Jennifer Sinor. You removed two sections, including a list of awards, and added unsourced material of your own. In what way do you think this was an improvement to the article? Mathglot (talk) 08:30, 1 July 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, thank you for your message. These were suggested edits by Jennifer Sinor herself. She believed these edits to be improvements to her page as they more effectively displayed work(s) a potential reader would be interested in. Anneschilll (talk) 22:27, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- Anne, thanks for your response. I strongly considered removing your edits, and likely would have done so, except for the fact that they have already been removed by another editor. Please understand that Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that provides neutral descriptions of the topics included in it, based on the content of the majority of independent, reliable, secondary sources on the subject. Wikipedia is not social media, and Jennifer Sinor is about the last person in the world who has any say in the content of the article Jennifer Sinor. You and anyone connected with Ms. Sinor, are next to last.
- In order to maintain the confidence of our readership in the quality of Wikipedia articles, we cannot allow people to simply write profiles about themselves, or about people or organizations they are connected to. I hope you understand. I will leave you a pro forma message about this shortly. There is a wee bit of wiggle room, should you still wish to contribute to the article: you may leave an WP:Edit request at Talk:Jennifer Sinor describing the changes you would like to make to the article, in an attempt to persuade some other editor with no connection to Ms. Sinor to add the changes you describe to the article. If unconnected editors believe the edits would be neutral, and an improvement, they may make them. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 22:43, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for your explanation. The intention was to present the clearest and most updated information on this subject to potential Wikipedia readers. However, it is clear now why these edits would cause concern. I will look into the edit request as you described. Thank you! Anneschilll (talk) 22:56, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
Please disclose your connection

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation for any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
