Hello, a student in one of your courses is in need of some guidance. Please see the edit history at Katharine Graham. Thank you. Innisfree987 (talk) 20:21, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, @Innisfree987. I will check out edit history. Can you give me a sense of what happened from your end? Happy to intervene. Cjsmith7 (talk) 20:53, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your help. The student removed a large amount of reliably sourced material without giving a reason based in Wikipedia policy, along with introducing other problems. Another editor reverted them and gave the good suggestion to work on a new version in their sandbox, then propose changes on talk for discussion. Instead the student simply restored their changes (so they’ve been reverted again). Innisfree987 (talk) 21:29, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Okay! I will message the student about this. I assumed this was what it was in reference to, but I just wanted to make sure.
I know that group also contributed a photo that they took (we are located in D.C. so they were able to go downtown and snap a pic themselves). Do you have any sense of why that photo would be deleted?
Thanks so much! I appreciate your thoughtful, critical engagement with my students' work. Cjsmith7 (talk) 21:33, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
If you mean the photo of the call box in this edit, I personally don’t have a problem with it but the same edit also added an obviously copyrighted photo. When such large problems are being introduced, volunteer editors don’t always have time to go through and try to salvage what could be. Innisfree987 (talk) 22:05, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
That makes perfect sense! I'll speak with the students during our next class period to let them know what we talked about. I know they were interested in getting more information about how they could improve upon what they contributed. Appreciate your time! Cjsmith7 (talk) 22:31, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
