In 2016, Nicole Thomas became the first female hospital president at Baptist Health. Thomas oversees Baptist Medical Center South.[1] In 2019, Baptist Health opened a new 12-room Wolfson Children’s Hospital pediatric emergency center at Baptist Medical Center South.[2]

In April 2025, Baptist Health added a Bell 407 helicopter equipped with an upgraded autopilot system to its airborne emergency department. The helicopter can respond to emergencies within a roughly 100-mile radius of Jacksonville.[5] In September 2025, Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital broke ground on a four-story, 123,000-square-foot emergency and patient tower. It will house two distinct emergency centers one for adults and another for children. The tower plans have a total of 100 emergency patient rooms and 68 inpatient rooms. In January 2026, Matthew A. Zuino became CEO of Baptist Health, succeeding Michael A. Mayo.[6]
