- I think the prevalence and variety of social media posts calling it an IUD moth is certainly a use of an improvised common name, and in fact a direct visual comparison here makes it much more likely its something someone would actually search while trying to identify the insect. There are even comparisons on insect guide sites like BugGuide https://www.bugguide.net/node/view/1677709. If others agree this should be deleted I can understand, but to me it seems relevant.
