Answering edit requests

edit

Hey there - thanks for answering edit requests. When you do so, you don't need to add a second "edit request" template at the bottom of the request - just change the EXISTING template from "answered = no" to "answered = yes." If the "answered" parameter isn't present, you can add it after a "|". Happy editing! PianoDan (talk) 19:46, 14 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Just a reminder - you're still sometimes leaving edit requests open after answering them. But thanks again for taking them on! PianoDan (talk) 22:34, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the heads up - to clarify: I am meant to edit the original message/post template and change the 'ans=no' to 'ans=yes', correct? I believe that is what I have been doing but I may forget sometimes. Also I intentionally leave them as unanswered sometimes to allow them to stay on the list if the poster replies, eg I ask for a source and they provide one, another editor can still find the original request on the table. Is that not what I am meant to do? Aston305 (talk) 14:35, 11 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
That's all completely correct, yes. I suppose it's also possible that we have different thresholds for when to close a request. Personally, if I apply an xy or rs template, since the words of the template say "not done," I close the request, on the theory that they can reopen it themselves if they provide the information (which they rarely do.) But I could see the argument for leaving it open in those cases. Cheers! PianoDan (talk) 15:57, 11 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Blank Edit Requests

edit

Hiya, I noticed you closed a blank edit request at Talk:Nelson Entertainment. Thanks for doing that! I just wanted to let you know that when dealing with completely blank or obvious vandalism edit requests, I typically just delete the whole edit request from the page. It just reduces unnecessary clutter a bit. This is in line with what's suggested at WP:ERREQ. Thought that might be useful to know! SI09 (talk) 14:03, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I usually do as well, I just figured since they at least had a little formatting that I would give them a chance to add content if it was an error. I suppose they could just make a new request as well though Aston305 (talk) 14:55, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. A lot of that formatting is automatically generated when using the Edit Request Wizard which might be why. But responding to requests is a very subjective thing. I tend to err on the side of minimising clutter, but different editors can and do very reasonably take different approaches. SI09 (talk) 15:11, 3 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Your signature

edit

Could you please adjust your signature? Right now it is red on cyan which is both poor contrast and a pain to look at. Thanks for understanding. TheTechie[she/they] | talk? 05:11, 13 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Desperate for help on the Wilhelmsen article

edit

Hi, this is Marius William Steen. I'm the Group Communications Manager at Wilhelmsen Group. You helped me to update the Wilhelmsen article infobox back in January. I've posted several additional requests since then, but nobody seems interested in reviewing them or updating the article. My most recent request is about the Operations section, which has featured a flag warning readers that it "needs additional citations for verification" since February 2009, so for more than 17 years. As you can imagine, the information currently there is wildly out of date! Would you be willing to take a look at this request? Marius at Wilhelmsen (talk) 03:39, 29 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
