Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Shotokan. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a loss of editing privileges. Comparison of karate styles

edit

Hi Alex, thanks for your recent edit to Comparison of karate styles, it looks likely a factual addition but the standard procedure is to add a reference for any new information that you add to the encyclopedia e.g. if you have just watched a documentary, then please add that as a reference for the information. The article in question is incredibly weak and unreferenced and may well be deleted ultimately if editors do not improve it and add references for new content. All the best, Mountaincirque 09:39, 21 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Information icon Hello, You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Krav Maga.

A wiki page, which has no recognized author and is communal (also I didn't see the reference you claimed on the wiki page), nor a google search which lists many authors, unnamed authors, and unqualified authors are an inappropriate source to adequately support your position. You should pick a single published source and include it in a footnote along with your change. Also, when dealing with martial arts and their originating techniques your source should also include who introduced the techniques and where they studied the technique. This is called a martial art lineage and is how martial artists validate martial art proficiency, legitimacy, and history. If there is a disagreement with a change you wish to make then you should make a post on the Krav_maga Talk page and discuss a consensus rather than repeatedly reverting the Krav_Maga page. Also refer to the talk page as this has already been addressed previously on the talk page with someone who has currently been barred from posting...Thank you. bverji

Style in MMA fighters' articles

edit

Hi - I notice that you added styles to Tony Ferguson's info box. I assume good faith. The reason Wrestling is there is he has noted achievements in wrestling. Please read the following:

Do not use the style parameter in MMA biographical articles. Modern MMA requires training several fighting styles, which means that no mixed martial artist uses a single style when fighting. References that describe martial arts ranks (i.e. black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) and/or martial arts training (i.e. training boxing) are not evidence of fighting style and are not valid to justify a fighting style in an infobox. Do not add your own interpretation of a fighting style. The style parameter should only be used in MMA fighters that have participated professionally or in international competitions in other combat sports (i.e. boxing or kickboxing) and who are notable in said sports and deserve an article for their merits in these other sports (i.e. Antônio Rogério Nogueira, Alistair Overeem). It is suggested to MMA editors that they actively remove the style parameter in infoboxes of MMA fighters that do not meet these criteria.
