Timelines
editI went to the Rock music project and reviewed all the band articles that are
FA with Top & High importance, along with those that are
GA with Top and High importance. Of those that had timelines, every single one is organized by instrument.
FA: Pink Floyd
FA: Sex Pistols
FA: The Beatles
FA: U2
FA: Megadeth
FA: Metallica
FA: R.E.M.
FA: The Kinks
GA: Black Sabbath
GA: Genesis (band)
GA: Oasis (band)
GA: Ramones
GA: The Clash
GA: The Rolling Stones
GA: The Who
GA: AC/DC
GA: Marilyn Manson (band)
GA: The Allman Brothers Band
GA: The Byrds
I fell completely down the rabbit hole and uncovered several old community discussions:
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Musicians/Archive 8#Create Member Section/Timeline Standards
- Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Musicians/Archive 7#RfC: Consensus on band timeline colour schemes
While there wasn't a full consensus of all the details, all example timelines included members grouped by instrument.
I think there's an opportunity for additional clarity here. The first question to answer is whether WP:GNG applies to articles about recordings. My interpretation of this has been that WP:GNG applies, but I can see how there is a circular logic reference at play:
...and around and around we go. ![]()

Aesop Rock has frequently collaborated with fellow underground rapper Homeboy Sandman as the duo Lice.[1][2] Together they released a series of free collaborative EPs, Lice (2015),[3] Lice Two: Still Buggin' (2016), and Triple Fat Lice (2017),[4] and Miami Lice: Season Four (2026),[5] which became cult favorites in the indie hip-hop scene.[2][3] These projects were well received by critics, who highlighted the pair’s complementary chemistry and the “hyper-referential density” of their lyricism.[5][6]

editRecord Label Discographies
editI couldn't find any clear policy or style guidance regarding the 125+ record label discographies. I would like to develop some consensus on an approach. I would like your help with these questions:
| Question / Option | Supporting Points for Option | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | In general, should discographies of notable record labels have their own articles? | |
| A | Yes. | Record label discographies serve an informational and/or navigational purpose. They are also practical from an article size perspective, similar to artist discographies. |
| B | No. Only labels whose catalogs have sources indicating notability of the catalog should have discographies. | Record label discographies are like all books published by HarperCollins, so should not have a separate article. |
| 2 | If no, how should a large record label discography be handled? | |
| X | Split the discography into a separate record label discography article. | Treat large record label discographies like artist discographies, splitting them. |
| Y | Add the discography to a collapsed section within the record label article. | Keeping all the information contained in the record label article makes it easier to use & reference, doesn't imply the notability of the catalog separate from the organization. |
| 3 | What should the discographies of notable record labels include? | |
| P | Could include anything and everything the label has released. | Treat record label discographies like artist discographies, which allowing everything, not just notable releases. |
| Q | Should only include notable releases (e.g. ones with articles), not the entire catalog. | Record label discographies are like all books published by HarperCollins, so limit to just notable releases. |
I pulled together some relevant portions of these policies:
- WP:MOSMUSIC#Discographies:
2. If the discography of an artist, group, or work becomes disproportionately large in relation to the rest of the article, it should be split into a subpage list (preferably titled "<Name> discography").
- WP:NLIST:
Lists that fulfill recognized informational, navigation, or development purposes often are kept regardless of any demonstrated notability.
- WP:NOTCATALOG:
6. [...] Lists of creative works are permitted. Thus, for example, Wikipedia should not include a list of all books published by HarperCollins, but may include a bibliography of books written by HarperCollins author Veronica Roth.
My initial positions are A (separate discography article) / X (split out large discographies) / P (allow inclusion of everything).WidgetKid Converse 16:53, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
1. In general, should discographies of notable record labels have their own articles?
- A. Yes.
- B. No. Only labels whose catalogs have sources indicating notability of the catalog should have discographies.
2. If no, how should a large record label discography be handled?
- X. Split the discography into a separate record label discography article.
- Y. Add the discography to a collapsed section within the record label article.
3. What should the discographies of notable record labels include?

- WP:NOTCATALOG:
6. [...] Lists of creative works are permitted. Thus, for example, Wikipedia should not include a list of all books published by HarperCollins, but may include a bibliography of books written by HarperCollins author Veronica Roth.
I feel like MOSMUSIC & NLIST are somewhat at odds with NOTCATALOG. On one hand, we could consider record label discographies to be like all books published by HarperCollins, so delete most of them. On the other hand, record label discographies could be serving an informational or navigational purpose -- and could be practical from a article size perspective.
I tried making arguments for each option:
1. In general, should discographies of notable record labels have their own articles?
- A. Record label discographies serve an informational and/or navigational purpose. They are also practical from an article size perspective, similar to artist discographies.
- B. Record label discographies are like all books published by HarperCollins, so should not have a separate article.
2. If no, how should a large record label discography be handled?

3. What should the discographies of notable record labels include?
- P. Treat record label discographies like artist discographies, which allowing everything, not just notable releases.

My initial positions are A (separate discography article) / X (split out large discographies) / P (allow inclusion of everything).

Would you please elaborate on how my participation on Indian education/colleges relates? One of the AfD categories I've followed is technology and there's been a lot in that vein. Is my brevity the main concern? Is there an expectation that more input is needed for a vote when the nomination has solid analysis?
Regarding the Missa Hebié article, I didn't mean to imply that all the sources were WP:THREE worthy, just that taken altogether, they add up to notability.
- 1. Faso-Actu: Coverage of Hebié's death and accomplishments, including positions with national film organization and national television.
Indicates notability - independent source, subject covered in depth.
- 2. Infos Culture du Faso: Coverage of Hebié's death and accomplishments, including positions with national film organization and national television.
Not a reliable source for determining reliability, but ok as supporting source.
- 3. LeFaso: Coverage of Hebié's passing, including interviews with other film directors about his importance.
Indicates notability - independent source, subject covered in depth.
- 4/5. Africultures: Held Deputy Director of Programming for Burkina Faso's National Television.
Corroborating independent source, but lacks depth.
- 6. RFI: Coverage of Hebié's latest film, but also prior works.
Indicates notability - independent source, subject covered in depth.
- 7. LeFaso: In-depth review of Hebié's work and considers whether he's a visionary.
Indicates notability - independent source, subject covered in depth.
- 8/11. Program from FESPACO 2013
Ok as corroborating source, but biography is WP:PRIMARY.
- 9. France 24: Film of Hebié's reported as creating a buzz at FESPACO.
Ok as corroborating source, but lacks depth for notability.
- 10. AlloCiné: List of works.
Ok as corroborating source, but lacks depth for notability.
Vegas Creative YouTube: WP:PRIMARY, and maybe WP:PROMO.
Sanook: Primarily promotional / release-focused, not an in‑depth analysis.
