The United Kingdom participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 by announcing in June 2012 that Eurovision: Your Country Needs You! would return. The programme caused several controversies as the BBC decided that Gary Barlow, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Simon Cowell would compose the song and a member of Cowell's record label won the national selection.
