The UC Davis Aggies men's volleyball team is a hypothetical men's intercollegiate volleyball program at the University of California, Davis. Currently, UC Davis does not sponsor men's volleyball at the varsity level, though the sport is active at the club level.
Should the program be established, the Aggies would compete in the Big West Conference, facing teams such as the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, Long Beach State Beach, UC Irvine Anteaters, UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, CSUN Matadors, and UC San Diego Tritons.
History
editUC Davis does not sponsor an NCAA men's volleyball team. However, the university maintains a competitive men's club volleyball program, which participates in the Northern California Collegiate Volleyball League.
The popularity of volleyball on campus, combined with the success and organization of the club program, has prompted discussions about elevating the sport to varsity status. Many players and supporters have expressed interest in establishing a formal NCAA program. Should UC Davis start a varsity team, it would compete in the Big West Conference, joining established programs such as the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, Long Beach State Beach, UC Irvine Anteaters, UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, CSUN Matadors, and UC San Diego Tritons.
The club program has effectively laid the foundation for a potential varsity team, demonstrating student interest, competitive participation, and the logistical capability to support men’s volleyball at the NCAA level.
Home Court
editThe Aggies could play home matches at the University Credit Union Center, the main indoor sports facility on campus. With a seating capacity of 6,003, the arena currently hosts both men's and women's basketball along with women's volleyball. The venue would provide a competitive home-court environment for a future men's volleyball program.
